asleep

Unknown to me

Just as the novelist sat down

    to write
    to nourish
    to align himself
                straight-again with the ground;
another man was lying deep-down,
below the grass,
encased in the systems of stars

he had tasted his last breath.

When
His moments froze ~

a small stream of pure water
      poured perfectly from above
      into crown through to roots,
      washed away the worries,
      the illnesses,
      the aches
that paused this man’s infinite progression.

Within mind
refreshed and courageous,
he traveled far
into jungles of Memory,
there was no shock.
no despair nor confusion.
As these thoughts
flew him through
on the magic carpet that they always were.

He was transormed——
into a guidesman, a dream,
a neon notion;
this realization shook every nerve
in its unseen explosion.
He sought the truth,

it had always been slapping him right in the face.

In life
he went insane for perfection
day-dreaming his Earthly footprint to be
in backward ways.
But that work is now
anonymous.
As he and the new setting
intersected
his Named became Nameless

All melted into rhythm & roots.

Pandora's Box

.............

exhaustion surrounds

permeating her auric feild

like a blanket of thick smoke

retiring into the darkness of night

it is her solace and place of quietude

undaunted by earthly storms

the raging fires of voicy havoc

 raucous misunderstandings

petty misgivings that cloud the path to clarity

slowly and calmly anesthetized

by the rise and fall of her chest

the inspiration of her breath

far into the depths of unconscious planes

dreaming of spatial incongruencies

distorted views of the day's events

slip into a place where they make more sense

awakened by a sound

 a child weeping

baby soft skin broken by the remnants

of an ogre's  shame and anguish

after dropping bombs on innocent women and children

abandoned by an angel of forgiveness

left in the scourge of suffering

accompanied by his own flesh and blood babies

 one man's desperation

the cold war has been resurrected

a house of horrors comes alive

it is up to each one to survive

 raw emotion pierces a hole

gnawing like lightning through the night

into the core of her soul

awakening with cries

but after 35 years

she is finally alive.

Author's Notes/Comments:

What war does. it lasts long after it's over.my father beat me 2 months after my mother's sudden death, and I blocked it out for 35 years of my life.

brain dead

People refuse to learn.

Instead of cherishing

what they have,

they always think

the grass is greener

on the other side,

and the only reason

it looks that way,

is because it's fertilized

with bullshit.

Where have all the smart people gone?

Author's Notes/Comments:

That Enemy of Mine

That enemy of mine, that evil thing,

It waits in the dark contemplating.

Plotting how to disturb me most,

I should kill it and spit on its ghost.

This is it's plan, that agent from hell,

To disturb my sleep with a malicious bell.

It happens each morning before I awake.

This fiend does great problems for me make.

Finally up I grasp it to tear it apart!

Then it stops singing, I'm alone in the dark.

I set the beast down and begin my day.

My enemy has spoken, I must now be awake.

Many Miles To See A Smile

Always on the road, sometimes I'd halfway be asleep,
But every mile worth it, cuz this love is not skin-deep,
Your struggle has been difficult, so many different yards,
Just seeing the smile on your face was always my reward.

I learned a lot of things in life, but never had I known,
A smile could be perpetual, through so many nights alone,
I don't know what you look like when I turn and walk away,
But I know by now you know my love is in your heart to stay.

I tell few people of our love, their noses snub and judge,
Do they really have the right to hold love hostage as a grudge?

This undermining of love itself makes little sense to me.

I've learned it's best let them go, keep an open heart for you and me.

I learned a lot of things in life, but never had I known,
A smile could be perpetual, through so many nights alone,
I don't know what you look like when I turn and walk away.

But I know by now you know my love is in your heart to stay.

We'll hope there's money for the gas, and rental cars to drive,
We'll pray that street signs only cost a bumper, not my life,
I've learned to pull aside and not go down the ramp asleep.

I've learned I shouldn't dye my hair on only two hours sleep.

I learned a lot of things in life, but never had I known,
A smile could be perpetual, through so many nights alone,
I don't know what you look like when I turn and walk away.

But I know by now you know my love is in your heart to stay.

Author's Notes/Comments:

A Poem about the family members of prisoners and some of what they must endure to support their loved ones.

Wake UP!

Wake Up! Wake UP! No more sleeping in bed
Little Peter is crying he needs to be fed

Angie is failing she can’t even read
This problem exists because she is poor- that’s what her teacher now believes

We are failing our children while we lie asleep
Our family structure is failing and is proven to be weak.

Wake Up! Wake Up! Mother while Peter is being raped
By the same man you love and claim it’s you that he dates

Wake! Wake Up! Dad your daughter is growing old
She needs a man in her life – so she sleeps with the addict who treats her cold…

Wake Up mom and dad no more thinking about you
But instead of our children whose thoughts are misconstrued

The alarm clock has gone off- No more sleeping in bed
Let’s save the children we have left
‘Cause half of our children are already dead.

Wake Up!!!!

Author's Notes/Comments:

Wake up is a powerful piece screaming the needs of some of our children. Wake up has been described as the perfect wake up call for those caring for children. It is a great gift for someone in the social services field; teachers or any persons providing the needs of our children
