wake

*I Just Can't Seem To Wake*

 March.20.2015

 Trisha Barrek Hopkins

As the sun goes down

My thoughts run free

Can't get rid of this frown

Struggling with myself

Fighting with me

No one will help me chase

These feelings held within

Slowly losing my mind

Slipping into an abyss of darkness

Somewhere unkind

Everythings just a madness

Someone true to find

Before my body gets weaker

And it takes a journey it must take

Away from the body it once live

So very much at stake

Leaving the body thats begining to rot

Soon will be pushed away with a rake

But its heart has not stopped

Only very badly torn

This has to be a dream

But it doesn't feel fake

The soul now loose at its seam

The demons try to take

To make it a nothingness

But a true soul will come to thee

Help it heal

Make it a greatness

Help you feel

And give you love like never before

Set your pain free

Help you soar

Give back what the demon created

Take back what has been devoured

Hopeing this newness you'll store

And never again feel sour

Put the beat back into your heart

Give back your feeling

Never from your soul part

I my dear was brought to you

I'm here to give your life a meaning

My friend  I'm here to keep your soul

Here to keep your thoughts new

Keeping you smiling will be my ever lasting goal

Even though I can't seem to wake

You will help me through

You will help my soul at any cost

By my side you will be

Making sure I don't get lost

In my heart I always knew

My soul you'll never set free

Wake up!

Wake up now!

And take a vow,

Without any delay,

Hear what your heart does say.

Must you know that no mountain,

Is invincible, yes you can,

Come out victorious,

Like a soldier courageous.

Act now since you must keep in mind,

That the fruit in the future you will certainly find.

I Walk An Endless Road

I walk endless an road

locked into a heavy load

Of these questions and fears

Gripping from it's unreasonable tears

As a car roars by

I look dead into it's light

Wondering where it leads

But just like that it's gone

just like another day

As I wake up to the sun's harsh light

I try not to look back

As I attempt to fill this crack

Of this hurt and wonder

Unstoppable, a storm of rain and thunder

As a car roars by

I look dead into it's light

Wondering where it leads

But just like that it's gone

just like another night

As I stay up to the moon's hypnotic might

The Start of a New Day

When does morning start?

When a creature awakes,

Or when the sun rises?

Yea, the morning is

When a creature awakes

To find it starting anew

In the world dominated

By mortal souls.

The human wakes up

First by opening its eyes,

Then stretching its muscles

And sitting up in a position

To retreat from the bed

That held it prisoner

During the long, dark night.

Out of bed it goes

Attending its normal

Robotic morning routine

Whilst thinking of the future,

Of what the day holds,

And how the day will go.

Either gleefully or woefully

Does the human think of this

For not all mornings

Are filled with happiness and glee.

Fearful not is the human

Who takes things as they go

Wave by wave.

Wave by wave harassing it,

Wave by wave attacking it,

Wave by wave saddening it,

Wave by wave entertaining it,

Wave by wave knocking it down.

Each wave the human does take

Accepting each as a challenge,

As an opponent, an obstacle,

And one that must be rid of.

Defeat is not in its dictionary,

For there is no defeat

If one can rise again,

And face the same challenge

To only be victorious.

The human does not give up,

It does not ponder on the past,

But it rises from its ashes -

Waking up to start anew

In a world dominated

By mortal souls.

Dreams Make It Alright

You're Not a Prophet,

Just the Prince of Probability,

Not a Sinner,

Just a Social Square,

Your Eyes are Rough Cut Diamonds,

Heart's an Old Rocking Chair,

You Exist in Thick-Streams of Heavy Smoke,

Living on Borrowed Time,

The Headlines are Screaming,

Life's a Joke,

But the Funnies say You're Doing Just Fine,

When We Dream,

We Construct the Whole World,

That We Wake to in the Morning Light,

When it Seems,

That Dreams,

Not Your Kind of World,

Go Back to Sleep and Dream it Right

Revolution

This is a revolution

Hear now what the children cry

Wake now from confusion

Your Savior stands in the sky

Your time is fast approaching

Life or loss, the choice is yours

Quickly, now, in this moment

Before time secures its doors

Can’t you see

Can’t you feel

Can’t you tell

The conflict’s real

That we war

For your soul

To leave you empty

Or make you whole

Here He stands while the battle rages

You want to destroy yourself

Give up to the Rock of Ages

Only He saves people from Hell

He calls to let Him save you

He wants to give you life

All He asks is that you believe Him

For your old self give Him the knife

Put to death your old self

Crucify your lusts forever

Bury them, six feet deep

Never to rise, forever to sleep

All this for the love of God

All this for your own sake

All of this to tell others

Veracity from fake

Can’t you see

Can’t you feel

Can’t you tell

The conflict’s real

That we war

For your soul

To leave you empty

Or make you whole

The time is now

The time is here

Why wait now

What do you fear?

Wake UP!

Wake Up! Wake UP! No more sleeping in bed
Little Peter is crying he needs to be fed

Angie is failing she can’t even read
This problem exists because she is poor- that’s what her teacher now believes

We are failing our children while we lie asleep
Our family structure is failing and is proven to be weak.

Wake Up! Wake Up! Mother while Peter is being raped
By the same man you love and claim it’s you that he dates

Wake! Wake Up! Dad your daughter is growing old
She needs a man in her life – so she sleeps with the addict who treats her cold…

Wake Up mom and dad no more thinking about you
But instead of our children whose thoughts are misconstrued

The alarm clock has gone off- No more sleeping in bed
Let’s save the children we have left
‘Cause half of our children are already dead.

Wake Up!!!!

Author's Notes/Comments:

Wake up is a powerful piece screaming the needs of some of our children. Wake up has been described as the perfect wake up call for those caring for children. It is a great gift for someone in the social services field; teachers or any persons providing the needs of our children
