A Hole: Pain Through the Brain

I woke up,

in the mirror I had my closeup.

There was a hole in my throat,

fastly I slipped into my coat.

I went to the hospital,

I was worried I recall.

I gave the fault to Abra,

who was able to the macabre.

Your Temper is My Poison

There’s chow littered on the staircase floor.

I scramble to clean up the spill before it’s all consumed

By the cat that brought the family bad luck since the late spring.

Here I go, like I always do,

Holding my tongue on the job

While I hear you shout

While I hear you try to crush me

While I hear you goad me to scream.

It confuses me why an act of kindness and good intentions

Can wrought so much volatile sentiments.

I’ve been hesitant to feed the little one because I don’t know his tastes.

Never did I anticipate that her gluttonous habits are what triggers you.

Or is it he? Wow. Just wow.

Anger does wonders to the hippocampus.

My curiosity about how long you’ll live after that squabble fascinates me

But it concerns me at the same time.

Mad people live shorter lives than those that can stay calm when there’s an inconvenience.

To you, I’ve always been the stupid little boy you’ve been raising since thirty-two.

To me, you’ve always been the hot-headed scumbag that loves pushing my buttons.

And your temper is my poison.

Just today, while hitting the road, I thought we’d find common ground.

Keeping our cools while the mama cat is away

And a kitten comes out to play

Before it helps us seek four crystals in need of recovering.

When all that is done, I thought we’d go out for

Bagels and quiche for old time’s sake.

I enjoy the little interactions and activities when your temper is below zero.

Sadly, tonight once again broke the streak

That counted consecutive days we got along.

This always happens growing up, yet I never see it coming.

To you, I’ve always been the stupid little boy you’ve been raising since thirty-two.

To me, you’ve always been the hot-headed scumbag that loves pushing my buttons.

And your temper is my poison.

If you think the black cat is getting pudgy,

Why don’t you take a look in the mirror?

You’ve put on more pounds than she did.

Or he did? How did you get the genders mixed up in the heat?

I guess anger does wonders to the hippocampus.

You’re the reason why I have to keep my temper in check.

And why I prefer tears over beers.

All for the sake of my own well-being so I don’t turn out exactly like you.

Your temper is my poison and I won’t let it fester.

The only antidote to my ailment is knowing that I’ll be out of this roof

Happier than I was living under it just like I was for the past two years.

I know that as a guppy, Mother said to be considerate of you and

I was told that deep inside, you do care.

Sadly, it’s excruciatingly difficult for me not to judge this book by its cover.

I just can’t pry it open to see the pages no matter how hard I try to interpret your rage.

But if this little message hurts your feelings,

It’s a dish served hotter than the volcano in the back of your head.

To you, I’ve always been the stupid little boy you’ve been raising since thirty-two.

To me, you’ve always been the hot-headed scumbag that loves pushing my buttons.

And your temper is my poison. It will always be my poison no matter how old we get.

The science behind the 5 most common brain enhancing drugs

Folder:
blog

Brain and mind enhancement drugs also known as nootropic drugs or smart drugs are supplements made to help enhance brain and mind functions. They are regularly becoming a popular way to give your mind the needed extra boost. There may be other ways that could be used to enhance brain function, but using nootropics reduces the risks of addiction and side effects significantly. We outline a list of five nootropics that could be used to improve cognitive function.

·       Modafinil (Provigil)

Although modafinil has been approved by the FDA to be used for the treatment of narcolepsy, some people living without the condition used it to stay more alert, increase reaction time and improve motivation. Modafinil is often used too by people who do not have narcolepsy to enhance mental function.

Some simple studies have revealed that people using modafinil have shown improved working memory and planning. They also show better spatial planning, visual pattern recognition and increased reaction time. Even other complex assessments showed that modafinil may cause attention enhancement, increased executive learning and functions without hampering the mood of the user.

One thing you must know however is that the use of modafinil may cause reduced plasticity and even harm memory in brains of young ones. This side effect is also caused by Ritalin.

·       Noopept

Noopept has been said to enhances learning skills, memory retention and to also increase focus.

Studies done in mice a while back have shown that Noopept may enhance cognitive functions particularly spatial reasoning when it is related to neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's disease. It is important to have in mind that Noopept was developed to treat cognitive decline related to aging although it remains unregulated in the UK, US and some other countries.

·       Omega-3 EPA and DHA

Omega 3 supplements have been said to improve concentration, reduce stress and enhance reaction time. Most of these omega 3 supplements are made from fish oils containing both DHA and EPA fatty acids. While everyone may be able to benefit straight from dietary sources of essential fatty acids, it is also important to supplement the intake particularly for people with heart diseases. Research is still not conclusive as to whether or not there is enough evidence of the effects omega 3 supplementation. Possible side effects that the fish oils used in making these omega 3 supplements contain DHA that may cause belching, loose stools, fishy taste and nosebleeds.

·       Piracetam

The Piracetam is believed to hell enhance memory, concentration, and learning by improving the flow of blood to the brain. It is also a member of the "racetrack" family of nootropic drugs.

It has been found to help in reducing twitching of the body in myoclonus epilepsy which is a rare disorder that has been studied a little. There are also mixed results concerning the studies conducted on whether Piracetam may enhance memory in test subjects that have cognitive impairment. But a lot of them show from a research of racetem drugs that Piracetam was helpful in enhancing cognition in people who had been victims of brain injury problems stroke. Its effects in reducing anxiety and in the treatment of depression was more noticeable.

Piracetam may cause allergic reactions, some balance and coordination problems, anxiety, nervousness and some other side effects. However, it is in a few cases these may happen.

·       Tyrosine

Brain hackers use Tyrosine to enhance alertness, memory, focus and creativity in solving problems. Studies conducted by the military suggest that tyrosine may improve focus, memory and alertness in patients who are healthy under the intense stress of military conditioning. While a working memory may be hampered in cold conditions, using a tyrosine supplement is believed to buffer the effect. Some side effects of tyrosine may include heartburn, nausea, joint pain, fatigue and headaches.

Sexual Minds and Their Demise

You can be the most handsome man, the most gorgeous woman...but if you can't bring anything to the table beyond aesthetics, there's going to be a problem. We're told to idolize one dimensional people with fake body parts and personalities; that our shells should be dazzling, or we're worth naught.

We're force fed skewed beliefs then vomit them on various platforms.  Perfectly trained to let media do our thinking for us; lobotomize free will and replace it with a television. Stay in line, or maybe revolt. Follow the leader. Simon says boycott, Simon says riot, but just enough to anger to other side. Just enough to ever fuel the fire of division. Simon says.

My god.

Put down your phone and talk to me about the cosmos. The overwhelming enormity of the Galaxy. Pick my brain about the utterly faulty way we go about dating now, and how commitment has become a dirty word.

Let's discuss books- better yet, let's read the same one, separately, then come together and discuss it! An actual book. A novel. The kind that you don't have to turn on or charge, but requires a hand to turn a page, and imagination to create a minds eye movie of the authors tale.

Genuine thinkers and creative minds are in scarily low supply these days. I'm not just talking about men- this is a PSA to anyone who will listen. You can have rock hard abs, the most reblogged thigh gap on Tumblr, whatever it is that society has told you makes you relevant and defines your worth-- but I'm here to tell you it's a complete farce.

If someone combs your mind and all they find is regurgitated Kim K quotes, or Scott Hermans diet plan, (paired with a handful of dust bunnies), then I'm sad for you. It all means nothing. Sure, there's nothing wrong with a rockin bod with great definition and striations, or 'the perfect fishtail braid', but offer something more. Be real. Be YOU. The things you pin on Pinterest don't define who you are as an individual- you do. THAT'S who I want to know. That's how you'll leave your mark on what's rapidly becoming a carbon copy society. Intelligence is sexy. Individuality is sexy. Creativity is sexy. Being who you are, regardless of media and societal pressures....

That's fucking sexy.

Brain

Brain is so strange a phenomenon!

It works so effectively on and on,

Yet scarcely gets worn out,

I think of it being so spread out!

As a camera it does work,

It gets its perk,

After taking rest for a bit,

It is the spring of idiocy and wit!

I am in love with the brain,

As evolution is obliged to it time and again!

PORTRAIT IN GLASS
*

A master artist and spiritual teacher

had a stroke a few months ago, followed

by a dream this writer had that he was etching

a portrait of his guru in glass.

The etching was too deep and the glass

broke.

 *

He had a stroke.

The brain glass broke.

 *

The energy he was transmitting

was too high for a human brain.
