Rise

Rise, Fall, Rise!

Folder:
Unrhymed Poetenry

Your enemies will try to crush you,

Your close friends will hurt you,

Your soul may fall down like Icarus,

Yet you have to rise, every time you fall!

Make a choice, work harder,

Have a dream, have a vision,

Start working, start achieving it,

Never give in, never give up!

Take life by the collar!

You can do it, yes you can!

Rise

Haqueian Verse

Rise,

Like the sphinx,

Confidently so,

And inspire being,

Wise!

Author's Notes/Comments:

A new form of poetry created by me is called ‘Haqueian Verse’, which starts with a single word; it has five lines that contain ten words in total. The poem ends with a single word that rhymes with the first word.

Rise

Rise like the wounded soldier at the war,

Rise like Martin Luther King Jr. a true leader,

Rise like a cyclone,

Rise like a rocket from now on.

Stand against dishonesty,

Stand against bribery,

Stand against cowardliness,

Stand against two-facedness.

Walk to the way of light,

Walk to the way of right.

Still I Rise

 You are envious of me,

You don’t want to see,

Me kissing the sky,

Still I rise high.

You set thorns before my way,

So that I may,

Fall a victim to injury,

Still I rise spiritually.

You want me cornered entirely,

From each opportunity,

Yet the path of knowledge I follow,

This is how I rise, you must know.

You endeavour to ruin my reputation,

Which I call an adverse mission,

Yet you need to know,

I shall rise like the sun and glow.

You spread hatred,

I spread love instead,

Like a saint everywhere,

This is my rise, now and here!

The Start of a New Day

When does morning start?

When a creature awakes,

Or when the sun rises?

Yea, the morning is

When a creature awakes

To find it starting anew

In the world dominated

By mortal souls.

The human wakes up

First by opening its eyes,

Then stretching its muscles

And sitting up in a position

To retreat from the bed

That held it prisoner

During the long, dark night.

Out of bed it goes

Attending its normal

Robotic morning routine

Whilst thinking of the future,

Of what the day holds,

And how the day will go.

Either gleefully or woefully

Does the human think of this

For not all mornings

Are filled with happiness and glee.

Fearful not is the human

Who takes things as they go

Wave by wave.

Wave by wave harassing it,

Wave by wave attacking it,

Wave by wave saddening it,

Wave by wave entertaining it,

Wave by wave knocking it down.

Each wave the human does take

Accepting each as a challenge,

As an opponent, an obstacle,

And one that must be rid of.

Defeat is not in its dictionary,

For there is no defeat

If one can rise again,

And face the same challenge

To only be victorious.

The human does not give up,

It does not ponder on the past,

But it rises from its ashes -

Waking up to start anew

In a world dominated

By mortal souls.

A Glimmer Of Hope

Sometimes horror befalls our lives. It happens to me, it happens to you, it happens to us all. When it happens to those we love and care about, it can feel like a sword in our heart, maybe even felt to the extreme that we think they are injured even more than us, when in actuality, we have allowed their experience to touch us in a way that produces a far more injurious violation to ourselves than it ever did to them, and yet we are blind to this phenomena due to the overwhelming emotion it produces within us. It is as if the waves of compassion can sometimes submerge our very being into the waters of every possible emotion with an upsurge of ripping signals to try and tame the source of our turbulence. We perceive that source as something that we must conquer under the guise of 'what is just', which is something one can only create for oneself.  When we are blind to what justice really is, we add a lot of ingredients that change the recipe of empathy completely. Before we know it, our anger is in charge of steering the boat, and we can no longer even feel the pull of the tides calling us to listen to the sound of our heart long enough to understand that the whirlwind of emotions within us that caused the actual signals to tame the beast we seek, is really the beast of our own fury. Plato once said, "Until philosophers rule as kings or those who are now called kings and leading men genuinely and adequately philosophise, that is, until political power and philosophy entirely coincide, while the many natures who at present pursue either one exclusively are forcibly prevented from doing so, cities will have no rest from evils,... nor, I think, will the human race." (Republic 473c-d)". He also said, "“Justice will be achieved only when those who are not injured feel as indignant as those who are.” --Plato, Circa 400 BC-

I read those statements to mean that balance is needed in society. But as Gandhi leaves us pearls of wisdom that beseech us to find the peace within, and the Buddha's call summons us to light our own candle within, we are incessantly drawn toward the outer world in attempts to get the answers we can only find within us. We honor the teachings of Martin Luther King Jr. and John Kennedy for their strong stands they took when it came to social injustice, and still, we so many times reject our own needs to calm the waters of discontent within our own soul's yearning for harmony among men. We listen more to the ripping signals of despair, anger, and greed, more than we listen to the whimpering sounds of our own longing to be whole, safe, forgiving, and at one with the Earth and each other.  Where will the balance that Plato describes begin? The scales of justice must begin somewhere, and I strongly believe that somewhere is only found within ourselves. When a loved one is taken from this world and torn from our earthly gaze, they leave behind a whisper that can only be heard when we meet them at that place where we meet on the inside.

When we can maintain the inside of ourselves and be at peace, we can then move on and go out into the world and conquer it with love. We may never get to see 'an eye for an eye' the way we once perceived it to be, but that has always been something different anyway. I am most certain that is called revenge.

About Justice, and how we have we failed as a species to understand that it is not the same thing as revenge.

"Seraphim's Lament"

Folder:
My Work

Judgment proclaims
that blood must be shed,
Wrath is a flame,
ruby dance of red.
Holiness can gaze,
only with Righteous eyes.
Worship and praise
continually rise.
In twain they are covered,
by feathers of Light.
Forever to hover
in the realm of His Sight,
Terrible Vision
that can strike you blind,
split-second decision
that will melt your mind.
Caught in the storm
created for Pleasure,
their wings will keep warm
their most adored Treasure.
Angelic beings
with Godlike desire.
Drawn from the dreams
of Elijah’s fire.
Whispers of nightmares,
birthed from stray stars.
Calculated diamond stare,
machines made for war.
Hiding each awful face,
from a Most Holy Throne,
from Adonai’s Secret Place
they guard His Presence, alone.
No human could conceive
their purpose or His plan;
standing ready, to receive,
His nod or sleight command.
Though human sight cannot behold
this terrifying art;
you cannot weigh in silver or gold,
the radiant love in His Heart.
The gift that He has given to me;
in this earthen disguise,
Seraphim frozen by what they see,
His Reflection, in my eyes..
