sunshine

Sunshine

It's a sunny day

things are looking up

time to celebrate

sunshine is enough

Author's Notes/Comments:

#NaPoMo #NationalPoetryMonth #PoemADay #April2021 #day4 It's always nice to see the sunshine so it inspired my short poem for day four. Trying to distract myself from the fact my husband died on this date 7 years ago...hard to believe how fast time flies...sunshine is a great distraction...always lifts my mood. Happy Easter!

Cut Short

I gave you hell in the morning time,

You gave me hell in the evening,

And everytime we were around each other, you never seen me,

You jumped ship, and you made it look easy,

Unloyal, your so spoiled, and so full of yourself,

When I talked to you about your potential,

Accusations of me never having a picture frame,

With your name and my name under a photo of our first dance, became influential as you convinced yourself I was never really down with you,

Like I wasn't spending all this time with you,

Sharing everything that was on my mind with you,

When you looked into the future, you saw me kissing on another woman,

You blame me for a future that I didn't know of and never wanted,

When nothing is set in stone, and constantly the future is always changing,

You snatched that picture away, the names and the frame,

Now I'm having dreams of *** moaning my name,

Your future has become my reality,

Yes now im everything you thought I'd be,

Having nasty thoughts about her before I sleep,

I'm messaging you while thinking of where I could be,

Being held by a retired marine,

Feeling, and stealing little moments, little things,

I'm a bad girl, I won't blame you for that,

I'm a sucker for woman well traveled, a nice uniform and a certain type of sensualness,

Remember when you jumped ship?

Your own foresight back with a vengeance,

So don't hit me up saying your vision is now clear and you realize what you've been missing,

Your vision was clear when you accused me of wanting a future without you in it,

Funny how life works,

Even when things are sunny…

All alone All along

like porcelain shavings

her skin began to crack

like a feather floating on thin air

she's losing strands of silken hair

the mirror spits back

all the qualities in which we lack

like needles in our eyes

poisoned with vain lies

she savored the quiet moments

devoid of conversation

the sound of still breathing

the footsteps that followed him leaving.

the closer I feel

the further you fade

the more I crave

the less you feed

so I chose not to need

a single thing..

will there ever be a solid bridge built to cross..?

a river below, to toss our fears away...

voices muffled, as she sank deeper

yet no hand reaches.

sunshine streaks through the surface

the only warmth you'll get

engulfed in cold fluids

& a heart weighed down by loves disillusions---

many reminders of what could have been..

all alone

she knew it all along..

After the Sunshine

The mother earth looks fine,

After the sunshine,

My heart reaches cloud nine,

After the sunshine.

You follow the footsteps of mine,

After the sunshine,

Our love dances being divine,

After the sunshine.

Towards you my heart does incline,

After the sunshine.

Scent of death

Who are you?

what am I?

this is life--

we're passers by.

radiance falls

& fragrance lingers

this subtle numbness

tingles through the tip of my fingers

could love fill the empty room?

this desolate space,

it consumes

the human race,

like a black hole

a vacuum to the light in your soul..

hazey eyes

gloomy skies

sunshine cries--

the funeral's today..

the windows shine

stained glass

colored in disarray

I prayed to God, may you stay..

Unearthing Sunshine

Folder:
Personal Favorites

The lasers of rage and justice
need not be armed on demand
a deep breath is a wise, serendipitous act

Staring into sultry, swooned eyes
convincing a placid moon
to rest the tides
it's OK to indulge the mind
and just stare euphorically at the bizarre sunshine

There's resolve in reflection
with blissful malaise
embracing certain simplistic truths

Despite the repetitive doldrums

and limited experiences on this globe
something beautiful exists in soul mines

something only serenity can find

within a sort of internal, whimsical lobe

An extravagant core
able to be polished
at the epicenter of all the surrounding grime
taking true character, courage, and diligence to discover

especially when unearthing said luster of others

but the rewards are all the sweeter
and the gains are wholly sublime

My Sunshine

Morning sun,

In my eyes,

Twinkle, twinkle,

I feel you warm and strong,

Worked all night,

Now it's time to go in,

My guardian in song,

Rest these locks upon my pillow,

And wrap my joy within,

Send it up into the sky,

Let another day of yours begin,

Keep it full of light for me,

And when I awake,

To see you soon,

You'll be my shining moon,

It will be my daybreak.

Love You First

Go then, child,
Leave the nest, and fly,
Into the world of golden skies,
Raindrops of sweet, blissful mornings,
And nights of the silver moon,
Among the dreams and dreamers,
Into the garden of enchantment,
And gumdrop delights,
Icing on your cake of fortune,
Find your twinking light,
Go beyond the starscapes,
Climb the ladder of laughter
To it's shadowy depths
Of chaos, and after,
Find your piece of solitude
Amidst it all, marvel in that prize,
Applaud your fancied conquered plight.

Be the master, be the thief,
Call yourself another name,
Reach for all your heart can hold,
Catch that star of fame,
Slay the dragons
And dominate the demons,
Do it ten times over, touch the burn,
Then return and look into my eyes,
And tell me what you've learned.

And when my eyes remind you that
You cannot change the past,
Perhaps then it will all make sense,
And you'll treasure things that last,
One's hell, another's heaven,
One's glory, another's pain,
You will never escape the truth
That every sunshine one day turns to rain.

Hold this life in gentle hands,
Hear your past with every pace,
Praise the raindrops when they fall,
And never hide your face.

Flowers & You

Folder:
International

Tiny blooms, red, yellow and white
You put sunshine into my life
Pink as the daisies in the field
You give me nothing but pure happiness.

Flowers in my hand,
Keep standing under the sun
When it shines into your face
Throw a smile, and dance a bit.

Little flower, red, yellow and white
Standing up tall, standing up bright.
