My Boyfriend’s Cologne

The very first time we had a date, my boyfriend put on his cologne. We went to the movie theater and saw the latest Star Wars movie. I did not notice at first, but after half an hour, I started to smell it. It really could be noticed inside the cold, dark and almost empty room. Never had I smelled something like it. It was sweet, but not too sweet. It was masculine, but not too masculine.  It was fresh, but not too fresh. It was clean, but not too clean…it was just his cologne and how he wore it. I was nervous but who would not be, he was my first boyfriend so I started to think what he meant to me, suddenly, his smile popped up in my mind, all of those beautiful, big and white teeth appeared in front of me… seeing him happy was the finest thing in life, there was nothing I would not do for him and I was conscious of it, I loved him, I really did. The minutes passed and I was not really there, for me there only was his presence in my head. It ended fine. Even though I had not understood half of the movie he told me to save the date for the release of the following the next year. We kept going out after that. One, two, three months had passed since we started dating until I was able to smell his cologne again. He had a folk-dance performance and I went just to see him on stage. The sunlight covered all the public square in which his mobile scenario was but a special ray of light hit his smile right when he saw me between the crowd. When it was over, I went “backstage” to salute him, when I did, we hugged and there it was, that cologne, lighter because of the sweat, but strong enough for me to smell. Four, five, six, seven months had passed since we started dating until I was able to smell his cologne again. It was his high school graduation day and surely I was going to be there. I went to the ceremony at the local theater and, when it finished, he saw me and as he approached to me with the same big beautiful smile he has always given me, I could start to detect the same lotion that had hypnotized me. Not much longer after that day, he started college and hanging out together got a little bit complicated. When vacations arrived, we could again hang out frequently but this time, it was different. Every time we had a date, he would put on some cologne. He did not care whether we were going to the cinema or to the club, every date became unique just because we would be with the other. He also had changed. His smile became brighter, his laugh noisier, his eyes more cheerful and his love stronger. He used to reserve his characteristic smell only for special occasions, but ever since we were not always together, every time we went out was one. He wanted to make sure I felt how much he cared about me. He started to pay attention to the little things. He no longer waited for big events to make something out of the routine.

Soomin and Ryan

Soomin and Ryan forever and ever

You'll never ever truly see a couple any better

Both koreans and a little french too

They stick together like monkey glue

At this time, I wish them farewell.

Ryan doesn't have time for me anymore

Oh well.

Soldier

Her little head has a lot of imaginations,

From all the experiences she went through.

All the ups and downs,

She remained strong and happy.

No matter how hard he broke her,

She kept her head high

And focused at what matters most.

She’s like a soldier,

Brave, strong and resourceful.

Even if she has her friends and family,

She wants to be

That strong independent woman

No man will ever make her weak.

Aliens

A friendly face is always one to remember, and I remember his the most.

When we were kids we played together, in highschool we were inseperable. Then in college he became my husband, till death do us part... Thats what we always said. But what we didnt expect was the arguments, two years into marriage and we were both done. We tried to stay together, it was just to hard. After many arguments we decided one last try, one last 'honeymoon' vacation.

"Lets go to Mount Fuji he says, It'll be fun he said." Beth punched a wall as she angrily muttered mean words about her husband.

Jamie rolled his eyes at his wife, knowing exactly what she was saying about him. Beth took a look at her knuckles with the light on her head, they were bleeding.

She quickly wrapped her bandana around them to stop the blood, "How are we going to get out of here?" She asked.

Jamie looked around the hole they fell into, it was dark, cold, and wet.

They had attempted to climb Mount Fuji on their own, it hadn't worked out so far.

" I don't know Beth, but it looks like there might be something over there." He pointed his light towards something in the distance.

"What is it?" Beth walked towards him, she squinted, it looked like it was almost glowing.

Jamie went to the wall that held the odd glowing object, Beth followed.

It was a gem, a blue glowing gem with small white specs in it. "What do you suppose that is?" Jamie said while poking it.

"Jamie." Beth Squealed "Don't touch it, what if its alien?" Jamie snickered, "Honey I don't think aliens exist." Beth rolled her eyes and smiled. "Haven't you seen the X-Files Jamie? The truth is out there." They both laughed, the most real laugh they've had in many months.

Jamie and Beth Sighed, Jamie still having his hand on the gem, touched Beth's hand. Then all of a sudden the room lit up, there were many colors, dancing and swirling. Beth closed her eyes, she was afraid, she felt Jamie embrace her. The light stopped, she looked up to see Jamie's eyes very wide. She looked around her, she was in her living room. She ran to the window, and saw everything just as it was when they left home. She turned to her husband, "Alien."

Fate

People come and go,
He left her in the cold.
She suffered from the idea
Of confusion and pain.

The dark days are over
She was happy and contented.
She wished he wouldn’t cross her mind anymore.
But fate always finds its way back.

Decisions

Living a life im not proud of leading, yet I still remain here, never have I though about leaving. Support you I will, even though what I do doesnt show what I feel. I dont think we would make it, and I hate having to fake it. But this is what we made, what we created. There werent no mistakes, there was just some bad choices, thats why we must follow through with this, and not ignore quiet voices. We will fight together, because its what we chose, but there will be no fairy tale, there will be no prose. Decisions were made without considering, and life will be lived without ever remembering.

A poem about lust, and pregnancy. But about commitment and hate. Take the message how you want it. It can have many meanings. Please comment with what you think.

Sitting in Silence

I could sit hours upon hours with you,

listening to you talk about anything and everything that could possibly pop into your perfect little head.

The past, present, future, your family, your friends, your dreams.

I'd listen to you talk about all the things that make you cringed, or cry, or smoke from the ears.

I'd listen to you complain about the economy, the weather, or all the flaws you see in yourself though I see you as flawless.
And if for some reason,

through all your hours of talking,

your mind goes blank,

and you run out of things to say,

I could sit hours upon hours with you,

being completely content listening to the silence that surrounds you and me.
