The breathable higher allows supreme ventilation for the ft, as well as the footwear are lightweight and versatile. The Stumpton is perfect for the path runner, outdoorsman, and journey seeker.

Running downhill, nevertheless, was a problem. I discovered the lugs to become very slick when moist, especially more than rocky terrain. I had to significantly slow my downhill tempo, or risk slipping. And whilst this wasn't the case when operating uphill, I found the lugs produced my foot change from aspect to side when stepping down on obstacles like roots and rocks.

The Faas 500 TR weighs in at 9 ounces inside a women's size eight, using a four mm heel to toe fall. The outsole is a lot stiffer than the street edition, however the famous Faas flex grooves function surprising well, making the shoe really feel a lot more flexible than I expected. And just like the road edition, the midsole with the Faas five hundred TR offers a lot of cushioning.

In case you will likely be purchasing a pair of these shoes, for an upcoming mud run, make certain you get them at least two weeks so you'll have adequate time to split them in. Like any race, blisters or other irritations, can truly influence and restrict you on race working day.

Like other Newtons, the Terra Momentus features 4 external actuator lugs on the bottom of your shoe, below the metatarsals, that encourage midfoot/forefoot striking. The lugs are also meant to absorb impact, and rebound power to assist propel you ahead.

The Parka

The Parka

I wish I could just wear you.  Slip you on,  like a warm parka against the freezing cold. A thick pair of fur lined gloves , silky soft, warm and comfortable inside, but thick, and tough against the elements. You couldn't talk back, or get confused and run. You would only stay where I put you , and warm me, protect me against everything else out there when I needed you ...I could just take you off if I got too hot, instead of scrambling, and clawing trying so desperately to find you, like I do now when that happens. You'd be hanging there, on the hook when I was cold again and needed you. Still untouched by anyone else, you only fit me perfectly after all. I would patch you if ever you were worn, never throw you out, or replace you. I would wear you as if you were the finest ever to exist , walking proudly with you until I no longer needed protection from the elements. Until I could no longer walk outdoors at all. Until I was slipped into a silk lined wooden box, and lowered into the ever cold earth. There I would rest, and dream of your comforting embrace... Would my soul fly free ? Scouring the world for you? Or would I be trapped there, slowly coming apart, unraveling , helpless, in a cold dark place without you ?  The way I am now.

The Race

One in front, two behind.
Two in front, one behind.
Look back -
There are many behind.
As a team or individually?
How shall this race be won?
The longer I run,
The longer the race goes,
The longer the finish line is in sight.
The longer it is in sight,
The closer it may be.
O my mind! How it plays evil tricks!
The heat on my head,
My body, my hands, my legs.
O how my chest beats
With thy heart trapped in its cage.
How can I bear this pain any longer?
How much further must I run?
How many more obstacles must I pass?

Closer now I get,
Many more, yea, I hath passed.
One passed, one more to block the way.
One trouble gone, seems another has arrived.
A burden is rid, yet another takes its place.
The impatience grows inside me,
Yet the humbler I feel
As my feet hit the ground
One by one.
One by one is how the race is won.
One by one, each second is gone.
One by one, each step closer to the finish.
One by one, each obstacle is passed.
One by one, each round is done.

"Smoke Stacks"

The first rays of morning

awoke the churches and hills

as the smoke stacks expelled

their vapor as aviators of the skies.

Our footsteps along the tracks

sent echoes through the forests,

calling the oak and sycamore

to rise from their patient rest.

Paradigms of steel and wood,

Shake the earth beneath our feet,

calling my name as they

did so many years ago.

As the sun rose above forests,

Above mountains, above nations,

I turned to watch the smoke stacks

As they exhaled for a final time.

Crack

The lightening cracks

Falling from the sky. I can smell it burning

An elecric bird singing

It rained into my eyes

Warming my words

A warm blanker makes my bed freeze on the cold summer day

The ocean melts in my grip

The cold drips down my hands

The cool breeze leaving marks on the sides of my hands

I race from the smell

Going nowhere specific to me.

Running to everything you are

I was running down the road,
Lost and gripping a heavy load,
The past behind me,
The future in front,
A current of speed,
An elemental deed,
My tracks so sharp,
Like a quick spark,
I would find the road,
Either that or explode,
With the breeze on my face,
With all my haste,
This being my race,
I would find my place,

WORST NIGHTMARE EVER

OK, here was my nightmare:

I was in this house that had a basement and in the basement were stairs that led to an attic like place. The basment was haunted and so scary. I was terrified to even be next to the basement door. I followed this old lady down into the basment and up these stairs into the attic. There was a living room there with two couches and two chairs. I sat up there with the old lady and all of a sudden I felt a cut on my cheek and instead of the blood running down my cheek it ran up my cheek and the old lady was like "Oh they got you too, it happens to me all the time."

Then my mom and three other old people came up there with us and sat down. They said they wanted to play a game and they all pulled out guns and started shooting eachother. Then this HUGE black dude came upstairs with a GIANT ax and chopped the old dude sitting in the chair next to me in half! I screamed and ran out this door which lead to this hill outside.

As I ran out there were tons of people following me, running in fear too. Jeff was there as well. I finally went back to the basement and discovered that my mom was missing an arm and it was all bloody as hell. There were nurses there and they were making us stick out hands in this jar-like thing full of bullet ants. It hurt but they said it was for our own good. When we got back into the house I walked into the bed room and discovered Jeff in bed with a 15 year old. He said he had been cheating on me with her for 6 months. I started to cry and beg to him telling him that I loved him so much no matter what he did. And he got pissed and this teenager, who was his friend in my dream, started telling him that I was a bitch and he should kill me.

Then there was gun fire coming from everywhere and everyone started running and I could see Jeff and that teenager coming after me with a gun. Then Jeff shot me in the back. I finally got away from him and met this woman who took me to this other woman's house where she said she could fix my wound. So she did but I was still scared shitless.

Then all of a sudden all those people came into the house and were still running around like chickens with their heads cut off. I saw Jeff and the teenager and hid under these stairs, my heart was pounding. Then Jeff and the teenager saw me and Jeff poitned the gun right at me and I kept saying "why are you doing this? I love you so much please don't do this!" Then he shot me in the head and I fell to the floor but I was still alive. I played dead untill he was gone, or so I thought. When I got up he saw me and ran towards me and held the gun to my face. I broke down. And cried and cried and cried, and begged for my life and I kept telling him "I love you, please don't kill me, I Love You.".Then there was a struggle. Then I hear "BANG!!!" That's when I woke up.

It all seemed so real too. I never want to have that dream ever again!

Running cross country

Folder:
Adventures

I thought I'd be good
in a sport about running,
since when I was a kid,
it seemed like I was good.

So i got into the sport,
running "cross country",
for my high school,
I should be good at it!

Oh, boy.
It was a bad idea,
I have asthma
and the running didn't help.

In fact, the running
actually started an attack.
A minor attack,
minor asthma attack.

I had some trouble breathing,
and sometimes was unable
to finish the race,
because I was having an asthma attack.

They were small ones,
but still were painful,
I had to get an
inhaler for it.

I have bad knees,
and they didn't seem
to like me running
the cross country season.

So now I don't
run cross country any more.
But I still wonder
sometimes,

whether I would have
been a good runner
If I hadn't had
these annoying problems...
