Ugonna Wachuku
The sea is so silent
on distant horizons.
Heart-beats tell stories
of love and parting.
Like whistling waterfalls,
I follow your path in nature.
I follow the dream of your
disarming beauty.
I follow the welcoming
road to your deep inspiration.
And in your emerald eyes, life
is born anew for humanity and
for little me.
Now, I am back to the
pathway; back to those
sweet dreams you hold
for me in your soul.
So, when I tell you
stories from my caring
soul, do not wait, take
these stories within you
and remember that whatever
you do, I'll always love you.
Remember all of me
even when I am gone
because just one day,
I'll surely go the
way of all mankind.
Remember all of me,
if you will, even
when I am gone.
And indeed, in your
enrapturing
emerald
eyes,
life
will
be
born
anew
for
humanity
and
for

All Of Me was also the title of a song my father used to sing, from
the fifties, I think. (Don't take my word for that). But that is why I
clicked on the poem from your index. I love these two lines: I
follow your path in nature. I follow the dream of your disarming
beauty. Very interesting to read and interpret in several ways.

Dear Ugonna An evening spent in your poetic presence ... So many
stories to tell; so many songs to sing. Life is forever Arrival and
Depature. Dreams are universal breathing: the inhalation of
everlasting yearning. Ah, to follow the Path, reaching at last
distant, evasive horizons! Myra Sun

Through green hills and
misty mountain sides,
dreamy dusk breaks in on me.
Shadows of the moon-beam
gather around me for the
journey ahead. There is a
dance of souls and minds.
Tonight, the owl hoots
no more because I have
landed. The eagle is here.
On welcoming mountain tops
of home and beauty, I watch
these majestic name-sakes of
mine soar through blue skies
and caring clouds of heaven.
Breathless, I learn from them.
Enchanted, I watch their visionary
strength. I am calm. I am
overwhelmed. I am humbled.
I am inspired...
Tonight, I must start a journey
to new beginning. I must fly
stormy and peaceful skies through
life.
But then, I have learnt from
these name-sakes of mine. Like them,
I must soar tonight under moonlit
skies of home as I make my way
to new dawn on earthly clouds.
I will surely soar tonight.
Tomorrow awaits me with joy
at the landing field of love
and painful joy. These towering
mountains will not conquer me
because
I am Eagle;
and I will
indeed,
soar
tonight,
and
into
heaven's
new
dewy
dawn

The Eagle Soars Tonight:

So Majectic of a read Ugonna! This line in particular, "Tonight, the
owl hoots no more because I have landed. The eagle is here." Made me
think of the tiny caterpillar, how he one day just disappears into his
cocoon because he knows the time is now, for his emergence to become
the butterfly he was meant to be. I truly enjoyed the whole piece.
Thank you.

I find myself drawn to the poems with eagle references. The splendor
of the eagle (your namesake for which you should be proud) simply
surges though this verse. You choose your adjectives wisely (caring
clouds), and skillfully control the flow of the poem so that it
captures the grace and nobility of the eagle and its message. You take
the beauty of God's creation and make it unforgettable.
