carpe diem

Life is, as is Time

The time goes down

The age goes up
Neither to be stopped
Yearnings to be found
Plans to be made
What is it missing
The timeline of life
Time never ends yet always begins
No time is wasted in life, only choices made
Why regret
Why stress
When the decision is life
Every instantaneous still of life's path is beautiful in itself
For life is not determined in our decisions, life is lived
Lived between
Lived before
Lived after
Lived through
Life is simple
Why consider life to be past, present or future
Life is not but what it is
The course of our adventure in the limited perpetualance of time
Life is relationships
Life is mistakes
Life is accomplishments
Life is pain
Life is sorrow
Life is all that can be
Ones purpose is to be their life
To see all that there is to see
In every image
In every heart
In life
While our limited, enigmatically wondrous gift of life is given to us
We must

Carpe Diem, Seize The Day

All About Me
She opened her eyes
One morning and said,
"I'm not ready, God"
And went back to bed.

 A few hours later

She woke and then mumbled,
"Not now, my Lord"
With the blanket she fumbled.

The sun soon went down
And the moon woke her up,
"Jesus! What is it?"
She said with a huff.

At the foot of her bed
She saw him in all his grace,
"Oh my goodness!"
She whispered, heart quickening pace.

He offered his hand
Which she took and cried,
"I'm sorry my Lord,
But have I just died?"

He replied in a few words
She took right to heart,
"No, my child, you were sad,
So I thought I would start..."

"By telling you God
Has missed you today,
And letting you know
He smiles when you pray."

"He sees when you stumble
He knows when you fall,
He wants you to lift your chin
And stand tall."

"You are his miracle
Please never forget,
That's why I died for you
But regrets."

"Don't sleep your life away
Laid down in your bed,
Get up, live and love,
Wake up, use your head!"

"There's only one life to live
And He's given it to you,
Praise God for what you have
And to him be true."

After that he fell silent
And she felt tears in her eyes,
She hugged the Lord...
And said her goodbyes.

"Remember," He whispered
As he faded away,
"God loves you always,
Carpe Diem, Seize the Day!"

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this one day to cheer myself up when I was feeling particularly grumpy, tired, and lazy for about the span of a week and just had wasted the week laying in bed & doing nothing.

2010-2012 Poems

Days could get crazy
And you would want to say-

Days could get lazy
And you would want to just-
Ease out.

In your busy day,
You’d want to go for a road trip
And break-away.

In these lots of ‘sometimes’
Lots of things you can do-
But never ever EVER forget…
The ‘wild’ in you. :)

A poem I wrote for Shaleena, a friend with the kindest heart and adventurous spirit- as her 'secret Santa'. I gave her a camping tent that she can dump in her car trunk and bring everywhere she goes. :)

"Mother, May I?"

 by Jeph Johnson

Mother may I offer my sincere apologies?
For I never turned out as the man you really hoped I'd be.

The fault's my own, for blame rests soundly on the foolish choice
To let toxic themes be the inspiration for my voice.

Most find the musings of my mind somewhat embarrassing,
But you enjoy my poetry despite good parenting.

When we played "Mother may I?" you always said I could,
And baby steps, intended to be leaps and bounds, I took.

So happy with the outcome of never falling down,
I remained content with the little happiness I found.

Now I'm very good at nothing that matters much at all
And better yet at some things that foster my downfall.

Your parental guidance taught me the insight
To row against the current, but I sailed to wrong from right.

Tears wept fell in silence until my cries were overheard

You looked my way then smiled for in your eyes they seemed absurd.

The faith you demonstrate still can make me cry;
You encourage and uplift a lonely man with broken pride.

The many gifts I planned to give to you along the way,
Became the accolades you cherish of my younger days,

When a little boy on a carousel going 'round and 'round in the sun
Asked  his mommy how and why it worked, but forgot to have some fun.
