Teenagers always want to paint their bedrooms black - It's a thing as they explore darkness, the area of the mind that makes light and brilliant colors possible. One can not exist without other. How can you know happy without balancing it atop agony. We chose which opposition we feel best inside. Happy is simply a choice possible but perhaps not preferable today or this year. Good luck with your choices. Good write. thought provoking - slc
Great peace but there is no darkness within it’s an illusion there is only ever darkness over you which you have the power to expel as it only has dominion over you as long as you let it. Unfortunately some people love their misery and it’s company. Very strong write. It definitely gets the idea across with great imagery! Blessingss

Perhaps some people forget, or never even knew how, to truly be happy/content in life. Or at least, they don't know how to be comfortable with being content so they revert back to what they know. But, as you say, you can overcome and learn to let go of the darkness if you are truly willing to try and if you receive ir seek out the right supports. Thank you so much for you comments!
True, true, I guess we’d better tell them then ;) even the hardest fall has a great impact but also a chance to become the greatest survival story of thriving despite the uncontrollable factors. Blessingss and happy posting to you poet!

I see your first poem has a comment already from Stephen, one of postpoems' finest poets and, to me personally, a mentor and friend. Starting out with a comment from him is definitely a head start indeed.
I, too, enjoyed the poem, which implies a poignant, even agonizing, backstory. But the brevity of the poem speaks very well to the mystery of its background, which should not be disclosed, because that lack of information makes the poem all the more mysterious and powerful.
This is quite an excellent debut poem on postpoems, and I am glad you have joined the community. Jason Minton, our webmaster (actually, I refer to him as publisher when I am speaking of my stuff) is one of the great gentlemen of the internet, and his achievement in gathering so many great poets on postpoems has no equal. The care and concern he shows to us poets prove him more than a webmaster . . . he is most certainly a gentleman publisher, and you will be well treated on this site.
Thank you so much for your comments and kind words. You are very astute in your observations regarding the subject matter and yet you recognize the desire, and perhaps even the need, for the mystery.
This website seems amazing, definitely a talented group of writers. I hope to find some time soon to not only find more time for my own writing, but to spend some more time reading the wonderful poetry here.
