Charles Simic summed up poetry best when he said, “Poetry is an orphan of silence. The words never quite equal the experiences behind them.” It is this quote than inspired me to write my latest poem, Love of a Dreamer. Often people drive away the best thing to ever happen to them because they are scared of what might happen; scared to look at themselves in the mirror because one day their mate is bound to wake up and see them for the imperfect individual that they are instead of the object of perfection their mate perceives them to be. Everybody is the “perfect somebody” that someone else is looking for. The lucky ones have already found theirs. If you are lucky, then you’ve found yours. So remember, when someone loves you, they love you for all that you are, not for all that you aren’t, even if you can’t see it or comprehend it. Love like there’s no tomorrow, and don’t ever let go. Trust me on this one, because once upon a time, in a life that seems so distant and far from this one, I had that love. I let it go. Don't be like me. Live the life, don't write the poem.
