This poem was published in Who's Who of Poetry along with this biography:
I was born in Salinas, California on March 8, 1988. My parents cultivated my love of reading at a young age; in second grade, I asked my father for a good book, and he handed me Crime and Punishment. Reading eventually led to writing; as the oldest of six girls, I loved to escape to the bathroom or outside to write in my journal or write stories. In ninth grade I began to write poetry, and I have just recently started posting my work online.
This poem deals with suicidal themes, and describes a dream that I had the night before I wrote it. I turned it in as an English assignment, and received a Carpe Diem, an honor reserved for only the highest quality pieces. This is one of my personal favorites because of its imagery and the time I spent working on it.
