I decided to re-write the second stanza and make it more visual. Hope you like the change.

This is a tribute to all the fires that have destroyed earth, past, present and future.
Came to me as I went outside my house and could see and smell the smoke from the "Big Cypress and "Golden Gate" fires.

Another 'words from a friend' poem.  Phil gave me 20 of his words, this is what he got in return.
Rest, play, solitude, sand, heat, love, memories, children, waves, coffee, bikinis, castles, digging, hot dogs, sea gulls, shells, salt, tans, suntan lotion, snorkles.

More than a decade ago, I wrote a poem in Afrikaans, Septemberboom, which was inspired by my "tree" qualities.  What glee to discover Deborah Russell's poem, "I too, Am Alive", being the photo negative ... I wrote "Tree Talisman" in completion of this dualism ...
