HAMLETT - Ernest was born in Manchester, England, and passed away in British Columbia, Canada on May 27th, 2002 at 87 years. A World War II Veteran serving with the 1st Battalion, British 1st Airborne Division, Border Regiment, in North Africa, Sicily, Italy and Arnhem, Holland, and a surviving P.O.W.,
Today we commemerate the 1-year anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. We remember all those who were lost in last year's attacks, and we hope and pray that nothing like that will ever happen again.
If I had thought of this on or near the happenings of last year, I would have posted this then. However, I didn't, so here it is now. I hope you like it.
I told myself my grief for 9/11 was over...I was wrong. I tried not to write another poem for this date, but could not stop myself.
I dedicate this to all those fighting in Afghanistan for us, to their families here waiting for their return, to the families, that lost a loved one on that day, to all the rescue workers, and all Americans everywhere that gave from their hearts and shed their tears for those that were lost and those who had lost.
