We Remember

Folder:
Remembering 9/11

We remember the WTC standing tall.

We remember your attack that made them fall.

We remember their ashen faces

We remember the heros of that place.

We will forever remember that wake up call

For Americans to lay aside their differences and stand tall.

We will forever remember the bravery that day

As firefighters and police moved them out of harm's way.

We will remember and shed our tears for daughters and sons,

Then straighten our backs, hold our heads high and move on.

We will remember what you took away,

But in our rememberance, we will win the day.

Our rememberance will be an armor of chain mail,

Try penetrating it and you will fail.

Good old boys from north and south

Have taken up arms to silence your trash mouth.

We remember and our memory is long.

We won't rest until we right this wrong.

An eye-for-eye, the good book says,

Remember this, Your attack has signed a warrant for your death.

We remember and won't forget

This cowardly attack and those that perpetrated it.

Yes, we remember.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I told myself my grief for 9/11 was over...I was wrong.  I tried not to write another poem for this date, but could not stop myself.
I dedicate this to all those fighting in Afghanistan for us, to their families here waiting for their return, to the families, that lost a loved one on that day, to all the rescue workers, and all Americans everywhere that gave from their hearts and shed their tears for those that were lost and those who had lost.

Well written, my friend. Such wounds go deep, it needs time to heal :-)

Huck,

I know how you feel, as I drove to work this morning I was so filled with emotion and love for this country and all we have lost.

Great job, you really have a talent for putting those feelings on paper.
