I wrote this poem in rememberance of my late father who left us on this day 12 years ago. This old Banyan tree grows along the road and when we were small he used to tell us about it. The other day when i drove past it i had this urge to write a few verses about it. I have given it a try, it is for you to decide.

Composed on the evening of February 3, 2002. Inspired after a strange and unexpected encounter with a charming and most beautiful woman who seemed not of this world in any way. That is why I have described her as a "hoor" which, in Arabic and Urdu means a fairy from Paradise...and it is a term poets of the East often use to define and describe a bewitchingly beautiful woman.

Once, when people were pure and innocent, there was a box they were told never to open. But one man went and opened it anyway. He unleashed all the evils of the world: envy... greed... pride... violence... control... All that was left in the box was a single ray of light: Hope. We now confront those evils... And you are that last ray of light, our only hope..
