I have had a bad habit in my adult life. I have focused on Gal 6:5 instead of Gal 6:2. Paul
told us to carry our own load. So thats what I have done. Period. I wouldnt ask anyone for help.
Until a few years ago, I couldnt even bring myself to ask for prayer! The last few years God has
really been working with me on letting others help me.
I had trouble with surrendering this. I could not understand why in the same passage that
tells us to bear each others burdens it told us to each carry our own load. Somewhere in the back of my mind I had decided that the stronger person was to follow Gal. 6:5 while the weaker less mature Christian was to follow Gal. 6:2 until they had matured enough.
That is simply not true! Both of these verses are written for each man! Everyone is applied to each verse! They do not contradict each other as it may seem on the surface. The implication of load and burden are different. And knowing the difference is what has helped me to work on giving up my control.
