What music has everyone been listening to?

Has anyone been really into a particular band/artist/sound/song lately? Spring has finally come to Cincinnati and I find that the warm weather has made folk music so appealing to me for the past couple of weeks.

Fleet Foxes' new album, Helplessness Blues, is really beautiful and I'd recommend it to anybody anywhere. I've also been listening to a lot of Mumford & Sons and Le Loup. Other than my obsession with banjos, my tastes lately have led me to become obsessed with Working for a Nuclear Free city. Their sound is really hard to describe and I really don't know who I can recommend it to. It's dripping in reverb, can be fairly abrasive and and is very unique. Here's a song by WNFC that I've been listening to a lot.

Also: has anyone ever heard the movie remixes done by DJ Pogo? I have no idea what it is about those songs, but I have been absolutely OBSESSED WITH THEM. They're all fairly addictive and each come accompanied by a video making sense of where he samples the sounds and vocals from. Here's a personal favorite but really, they're all pretty great.

What about everyone else?

Shut up and dance

Lately i have been captivated by this one song - "Shut Up and Dance" by Walk The Moon. It's an infectious song that just makes you want to...well..dance.

I love country music, i dont have a spicific band or artist in mind i love all country songs and artists but if i had to pick a fav it would be for a male Blake shelton, and for a female it would be Carrie Underwood, country music is like listening to a story in music form thas why i love it so much.

Walking In The Air

from "The Snowman" a Brittish Christmas standard. I listen to it for hours each Christmas, the original piano composition, the duet of tenors, the solo tenor, and the cartoon version - haunting and holy - a real fan of this music seasonally - check it out on google under Walking In The Air, but I'm sure you already have. Haunting and in my head making me float. ~Lady A~

modern music

Recently I have rediscovered Alice in Chains. Something about Laynes tone. And his lyrics were usually about the hell he was living through with his heroin addiction. For the most part modern music, with its auto-tuners and digital filters has lost the organic part that allows humans to relate. Lyrics have went from something meaningful (for the most part) to bragging about riches and what they can do. In the 50's there was rock n rolls birth, 60's a movement, 70's a transformation, 80's birth of electronics and synths, 90's had grunge, a dark music about lifes more depressing aspects. 00's theres lady gaga and lil wayne?? Really? I fully understand that all musical notes have already been written everyway possible, but the reason our music is getting bad, is because of US....

He Would Have Laughed

Here's a song from Deerhunter's latest album. Something about the mood, the lyrics and the sound of this particular song led me to come up with one of my favorite characters/villains I've ever thought of.

It's been ages since I've actually posted on this thread

So here's an album that came out this year that I'm completely obsessed with.

M83's Hurry Up We're Dreaming.

It's awesome and you should listen to all of it.

Seems Youtube's taken down a lot of the videos for this album so ... Find it on your own if you're interested.

It's great, seriously.

anyone started using Spotify?

anyone started using Spotify? It works really great (even the free version) and is awesome for sharing playlists through facebook or other services. It really shines with it's facebook integration though. It lets you see what you friends are listening to in real time and you can even listen along with them and comment on the songs, etc. I highly recommend it!

Here's one of my playlists: http://open.spotify.com/user/1264571/playlist/6GEvVZY8Nv5YIKPkcGUXr5.

Journey

For years, I've been a huge fan of Journey. Recently, they released a new CD called Eclipse. I have nonstop been listening to that. I recommend it to any fans of Santana (since Neal Schon is the guitarist and his riffs are unique) or Journey at that.

My taste in music definitely

My taste in music definitely changes with the seasons. I spent the long winter listening to Gaslight Anthem's "American Slang", The Mountain Goats, Nina Simone and Laura Stevenson & the cans.

Now that spring is here I am craving a variety in music. Like Bollywood soundtracks, Ani DiFranco's "Little Plastic Castle" or "Puddle Dive" and some obligatory Erykah Badu and Jill Scott. I've started listening to the Avett Brothers again. Although I am craving new music that I haven't heard. I literally will listen to anything.

I've been hooked on a band

I've been hooked on a band called L'Ame Immortelle for the last four years. Stuff never gets old. If it sounds good, I'll listen to it.

I like music because it makes me remember and therefore, most of the time, makes me write stuff. I could go on and on about music, but yeah. I like L'Ame Immortelle and some others, but I listen to L'Ame Immortelle (and Staind. Can't forget them) the most these days.
