crypticbard commented on: in the setting moon by redbrick 3 years 25 weeks ago
Thanks Patricia. The note: Thanks Patricia. The note about images becoming sound is quite an important take away for me, of course, that and and sounds transforming into images in turn. Picking up on the phases and movements is likewise commendable as this was one of the aspects of this poem that was hoped to get across to the mindful reader. Thus completes the cycle of the pleasures of reading and being read. You are much appreciated.

"I crumble inward"   Sigh.: "I crumble inward"   Sigh. Perfect . . .   The prompt sent you on a metaphorical quest that began with gulls "in a snowy dance" and ended with breathtaking introspection. The outer world, projected with skillful explosions of language, reflects an inner world of drama and discovery that is presented as a silky stream of consciousness.   Emotions posing as beauty. Wonderful.

Images become sound and vice: Images become sound and vice versa in this astonishing last act before sunrise. The quatrains, as Starward observed, generate motion—a satin, theatrical, melodic descent that illustrates the moon's setting as well as its phases.   Astronomical splendor.

We have had a bifurcated: We have had a bifurcated economy for a couple decades now.  There are always people profiting or doing well even when the economy struggles or is in the dumps.  There's also going to be a lot of people struggling and falling thru the cracks even when the economy is booming.

This poem certainly presents: This poem certainly presents the complexity of the situation . . . a presentation which a lesser Poet would bungle, but you have brought it to the screen with skill and finesse.

This poem is like a: This poem is like a choreography:   each of the quatrains sets an action into motion, so that the sum total makes for a very effective process, like the phases of the moon.

How intertwining poetry and: How intertwining poetry and poets are over the span of centuries and languages, even. My mother introduced me to Zhivago, not quite intentionally. That led me to look into the work of Pasternak. And now at this junction I will embark on the poetry of Tyutchev. Thanks so much for sharing.

That is most certainly true. : That is most certainly true.  And yes, we all do need to be more kind to each other---and I fail at that very much, not so much by what I do, but by what I fail to do.

Thank you for sharing those: Thank you for sharing those thoughts, and I agree with them.  When I first told my parents, in October, 1975 (which was during my senior year in high school) that I wanted to be a Poet, their first question was, "How much money do you think you can make doing that?"  Then they advised me to continue with my interest in science fiction, because it had the potential to make more money.
