THE OVERAGE OF RHYME

JOURNAL # 41

'The Overage Of Rhyme'
is but a tether
to meter and time
hoarse,scratchy scribblings
the writer/poet feels the
immediate need
to slap together to scribe
fashioned endings woven
unnaturally lined
the spring board to all this
is self permission one gives
the separatist creativity
to better describe
variations and instances
the average other cannot find
when one unharnesses his rhyme
he makes way for more promising
paths some ten miles wide
I've advised many up and coming poets
on the pitfalls of this dark tithe
humility is a knight far superior to ego
with armor off
metaphorically
the sword becomes even more divine...................

Author's Notes/Comments:

I recently in a critique of a new fellow poet/poetess warned the person about the overage of rhyme and even said to watch for a poem by that title from me, cause when that phrase came to me it was a key to a door of creativity in my head that I knew would turn the lock to that door and that poem would be behind such door ready to be written so I jotted down that future title and sure enough today when I saw it listed in my draft box of my email this poem quickly came to me. Poetry is such a glorious gift. I never tire of it's latest incarnation's arrival. Enjoy! The Poet I said this to was Ryan Mayo aka cruelty while critiquing his poem 'Living Contradiction' thanks much again Ryan for the inspiration. Keep writing and sharing with us. LIFE IS TOO SHORT NOT TO WRITE MORE POETRY! My own little moniker I just made it up myself......... laughs

Life is too short

...not to write more poetry. Nice epitaph for a gravestone (I won't have one, to be cremated) but some poet somewhere..."On the pitfalls of this dark tithe" is my favorite among favorites here. It is all here, aesthetic, poet's POV, the work ethic, and inspiration - Yours In Writing~~~~~~~Lady A

I know what you mean...............

Sometimes you have to fight the urge to over rhyme. Wow how on earth did I manage to get 883 reads on this poem. Someone tell me the secret to getting that many reads.  I am dumb founded! seriously M.
