Having just helped to fight a war, we were being sent on courses like combat medic courses/ survival courses. Being taught by people who had not shared our experiences. We knew more than some of the instructors  in some cases.
It just p'd me off a bit.

There's always room for one more.

Before attacks they used to tell you the same thing.
It got boring and repetitive.
It was always the truth, however.There just wasn't a lot of it (information).

Death can come in many shapes and forms. It doesn't have to be a violent physical death. There are the slow creeping cancerous one's that invade your body. An enemy that the army has not been able to train you against, it can only prepare you for acceptance with dignity for an untimely end.To bite the bullet.

This sometimes used to make me aware as to exactly what futility was.

Until you have had the ground beneath your feet disappear.Seen the sky turn black and shower you with molten metal fragments.You'll never know how precious the morning can be for men at war.
I pray you never have to share the moment.
