So many years ago, I had a dream where I stood in a golden, heavenly apple orchard. And God said, in the dream,"Go now, for it is not yet time." Along with this, the Bible has also influenced me in writing the poem, with an account of God walking in the Garden of Eden in the cool of the day (Genesis 3:8). I started writing this poem on my way to biology class. It was cool morning and a grey mist played about the trees at my college, when these thoughts began to come.
In working in this piece, I came across this sermon by Edward Griffin, on walking with God. From what I looked it, it seemed to be an interesting read. Perhaps I'll come back to it later: http://www.puritansermons.com/sermons/griffin6.htm
Walking with God, it seems, means that we must be in close alignment with God - finding life in His love, having faith He will provide in everything, and in seeking His will. My favorite song by DC Talk is In The Light... the song is simplistic yet so earnest:
Honesty becomes me / there's nothing left to lose
All the secrets that did run me / in Your presence are defused
