The brevity of most of the: The brevity of most of the lines gives this poem a forward energy, and an authentic tone---showing us a mind in contemplation, but not contemplation in leisure, but in distress as the distress is going on around it and within it.  The poem ends with a kind of quiet scream of uncertainty. And that mysterious term, never-end:  is that a state of mind, a place in the soul, some eerie site that appears nowhere on any map and yet is always turning up everywhere?

I agree...but there is a:     I agree...but there is a level of curiousity that is presumptuous, that defies the laws of nature and the law of God. Curiousity that is actually disobedience. Healthy curiousity lends to ambition and growth. But, that is not what I am referring to here. Thanks you for your reply.....I just saw it. lol!

Despite the relatively calm: Despite the relatively calm tone of the lines, there is still an eerieness to this poem.

Thank you very much.  You: Thank you very much.  You have validated what I had hoped for the poem, and its effects, and I am very grateful for that.  Despite the backdrop of the tragic sinking, I wanted to contrast to it the happiness of the BoyFriends.  The gadgets of which society is so proud, and the Titanic was one of those gadgets, are nothing compared to the beauty, the comfort, and the warmth of the Love experienced by the BoyFriends.  And I just had to mention those ubiquitous socks.  Thank you for commenting, especially as busy as I know  you have been.

Thank you very much.  I: Thank you very much.  I wanted the effect to be whimsical, but also to underscore the contrasts between the two Boyfriends, nakedly safe and warm in each other's arms, and the impending tragedy, the chill of death and drowning, about to be delivered by the supposedly unsinkable ship.  I very much appreciate your compliment.

My gratitiude for your most: My gratitiude for your most appreciated comment. I am particularly glad that the emotion expressed has carried through in the reading. In a day when coins figure less and less in our day to day transactions, tap and go appears to have stoutly replaced hand to hand barter-like exchanges.

Your innovative and blazing: Your innovative and blazing imagination has tackled, spectacularly, and with some startling personification, the ghosts of jaded yesterdays. Amazing! Truly enjoyed this emotional avalanche that tumbled from your expert pen.

Love was the guardian angel: Love was the guardian angel in this charming story set against the towering backdrop of the Titanic's departure.  There's some brilliant reverse tension here: we're hoping that the couple do NOT make it to the ship on time while the grandfather blusters about the "unfortunate" delay.   Fate can often be a benevolent despot; perhaps it was those enchanted, highly symbolic socks.   Another fun, witty and heart-melting celebration of love.

Starward commented on: Trump Will Rule Again by ramonathompsont 2 years 8 weeks ago
Forgive me for raising this: Forgive me for raising this question.  Didn't the Founders object to the idea of one person, like George III, ruling?  Only Law rules in this country.  No one man---not even the Innkeeper---is permitted to rule us:  he can only carry out the Constitutional responsibilities of his office.  The Constitution does not acknowledge, and the electorate (if they are thinking clearly) does not elect, rulers.

Now the Sojourner performs: Now the Sojourner performs and there is an inner whirlwind in pace with the breathless movements that suggest freedom and unleashed joy. The short, staccato lines, beginning as a whispering flutter, soon pulse with empowerment: a triumph over fear, physical pain and heartbreak.   "Unbodied, insane!" you fly to the summit of who you truly are.   What a trip! Love this amazing series.

I'm grateful to Starward for: I'm grateful to Starward for encouraging you to continue this reflective, poignant and wistful journey—an odyssey both literal and emotional. We would certainly be missing out without your soulful and picturesque creation that culminates in a firestorm of beauty and a clever play on words:   "I live by the dimmed light of love.   I raced to the stars like Icarus   But instead of falling   I grew up"     Just perfect.

A brilliantly conceived,: A brilliantly conceived, artfully penned character study of carefully concealed pain.   You did a superb job of transferring the experience to the reader: Don't we all, at times, "dance,/ though weeping" in our everyday, human performance?   Particularly profound was "the stillness between the weeping and dancing" where the Sojourner becomes the audience and the world becomes a frantic, fleeting stage play.   You leave much open to interpretation with an ingenious economy of words, and that is, to me, the gold standard of art.     Stunned and applauding.
