A Mother (not) To Be

Empty arms long to hold,

The child lost.

Desperate heart longs to love,

The child gone.

Lying on a cold steel table,

Open for the world to see.

Bleeding from an unseen place,

A mother not to be.

This poem stood out and I had to read it, and I'm glad I did. My girlfriend and I had to go through this, but it never bothered me as much as it did her. This writing shows me that no matter how close I would have come to it, there is no stronger connection then a mother and it's child. I hope to see more.

'Bleeding from an unseen place,
A mother not to be.'

In such a short peice, greif and sadness become as prominent as the dark at night. The power of this overwhelms me.
Great job as ever. Laurenx

I applaud the return of this Important Poet to postpoems, and this first of her new poems that I have read demonstrates that her considerable talent is alive and well.

Though writing about death, you make the subject come to life. This poem is vividly sad.

only a mother would truly understand this poem, and only a mother who has lost a child would truly feel this poem....I am both, and you touched me.

Powerful write. Well done and very sad as the non-mother will live with that loss for the rest of her life, but peace (and forgiveness if needed) can be just a prayer away.
