forgetmenots

forgetmenots grow on yesterday's fields,

while sinister whispers carefully steel..

the innocence their soft petals hold,

a child's laugh.. so carelessly stole..

cries unheard.. and smiles unseen.. til now..

you whisper to my heart what my ears do not hear..

tell it to heal, and to let go of the fear..

i realise now, no longer alone,

my heart was yours, and not quite my own..

and finally, the tears have stopped falling,

though pain seems to keep calling..

the smile once lost now found,

the scars not closed, but bound..

but you hold the thread, and now the choice..

of what i feel, whether pain or joy.

but ill smile all the while, just like you taught me,

for all i have lost, and gained once you found me..

yesterdays forgetmenots wither away,

finding new growth are the blossoms of today..

and tomorrow seems less far away..

petals fall, roots still there,

the child's laugh returns to the air..

a beautiful blossom shall take its place,

forgetmenots forgotten, as a smile takes her face..

today is the new, forgotten the old..

and warmth is one's words, comforting the cold..

the birds begin their journey, and seek new sight,

though the hurt is still there, the wost has taken flight..

and soft are the words that touch the heart,

healing all right from the start..

Transitioning

"...warmth is one's words, comforting the cold..." Balance is nice here. Our ellipses have 3 or four pips - 2 are interesting. - the child is a recurring theme :D
