Come with me on a journey into an unknown place,
Where struggle is a given and the world moves at a hectic pace.
Your mind is nothing but confusion- Your visions are illusions,
Where the "real" world is a source of amusement.
Are you ready?- Come with me.
Come see my world- Take a look into it,
See my everyday struggles and decide if you could do it.
Understand my thinking and my point of viewing,
Recognize my pain and notice why I do the things I'm doing.
Come with me- And see
Exactly how I have come to be- ME.
Growing up in a place- Where being white made me the minority race.
Disrespected to my face- Racism was flipped in this case.
Earning respect- By doing things that now,
I would regret- Fought for everything I wanted to get.
Literally battling against neighborhood kids,
I stayed out- They ended up doing bids.
Come with me and see how I was discriminated against,
Because I decided to wear baggy pants.
See how white people- Looked at me and only saw evil,
To them- I was just another "hood"-lum,
I never understood them- And they never understood me,
Never took the time to see- If only now they could see,
What I have grown to be.
A kid with knowledge- Greater than most would ever acknowledge,
Writing it in poetry- With a style that isn't taught in college.
Come with me- Are you ready?
See what I have become- A Poet,
Destined to be remembered and no one knows it.
Writing down the pain that most feel- But are too scared to reveal,
So in a sense- I heal.
Because as you read you feel- What I have felt,
And I reveal the situations- In which you wanted help.
I take you with me- I hope you're ready,
To relive the things you've felt already.
Relate to it- Understand it
Feel it- Grab it,
Hold it- And cherish,
Never letting the pain and hurt perish.
Feel me- Understand me,
Love me.
Are you ready?
Come with me.
