Own You Owe You

styrofoam matchstick earthquake girl

what I wouldn’t give to own you like words

owe you like rent /

you smile at me with too many eyes /

give me some sort of coughed up vibration

spitting song across your doorstep /

seems like I can be the end of the world

when I want to be /

trip over your microcosm of being

you make me echo at

too many frequencies /

I can’t tell if this loveliness is

ever something I actually want

still I’m on edge

skin still holds this kind of trembling

I am strong enough to carry

any god on my shoulders

and my god it’s a lot

Compelling write

This poem is a beautiful exploration of attraction, desire and power complexities. I was quite taken with the imagery of "styrofoam matchstick earthquake girl", which created a vivid and unique picture. The repetition of "too many" and the contrast between wanting to own and owe someone adds depth to the emotions portrayed. The references to frequencies and vibrations add a musical quality to the poem. I felt this poem enhances the emotional impact and that makes it such a compelling read. Powerful and evocative, thank you. Brilliant work!
