Everybody needs a friend,

a special kinda guy,

one on whom you can depend

when trouble happens by.



Everybody needs a friend

who understands your fears,

so when you open up your heart

he'll open up his ears.



A friend is hard to come by,

yes, he's really hard to find.

Acquaintances will never do

'cause they're just not the kind.



Everybody needs a friend

on whom they can rely,

a friend I'm sure will help them be

…a friend to passers-by.
