Never was there ever one like Mother,
Never was there ever one like she,
Never was there ever any other,
Most loving member of our family.
Never was there ever one so patient,
Never was there ever one so kind.
Never was there one so sympathetic,
Search, but you will never, never find.
Ever since I was a newborn baby,
Sitting there upon my mother's knee,
Never did I ever hear a "maybe,"
Never did she ever disagree.
Never someplace else when she was needed,
Always there to mend those bruises, too.
Working hard to raise up all my brothers,
And after sister, I was just "review."
Washing clothes the hard way, 'twas no other,
Pumping water from the outside well,
Ironing, cleaning, cooking did my mother,
And I thought her cooking pretty swell.
Pinching every penny for her family,
Stretching every dollar for our needs,
Never was there quite enough to last her,
And all she got was heartache for her deeds.
And when we were grown what did we give her?
Troubles... for the love and care we got.
The one and only value that she ever sought
Was just to hear us say, "Mom, thanks a lot."
Mothers place more value on their children
And seek to wish them only life's success.
I don't know what's inside of all the others,
But I know my mother's dream of happiness.
To live a million years with all her family,
Though some have gone and left her, as she knew,
But we'll all meet someday in God's vast Heaven,
'Til then unto our mother we'll be true.
For never was there ever one like mother.
Never was there ever one like she.
Never was there ever any other
Never any other one for me.
This is simply beautiful! And perfect for Valentine's Day! We have such fond memories of Grandma Haesche.....quite a lady.
reading this, I now know why they say "A mothers lover is her children" :) good write
