A Sonnet To My Hurting Love

By

Richard P. Haesche

This lifetime will abate and you'll survive

your deepest miseries. So reconcile

your thoughts and rest awhile

and know that all your blessings are alive.

You can't afford to lose your faithful drive

for fear of losing ground those final miles.

So turn those tears and frowns to happy smiles

and think about that goal for which you strive.

Say a little prayer, for in good time

your burdened mind will gradually unload

and problems that you knew will be obscured.

There'll be no further hills up which to climb

and all your hurts and painful episodes

will end in smiles at all that you've endured.
