When the going gets tough
It scrawls up my spine writing incompetencies in my bones
doodling weakness through my fleshen resolve
it sends frozen icicles reaching into my daring
it wraps me with insecurities stifling tightly
bound with nerves on the brink of breaking
it covers my eyes, pinches my nose and welds my lips tight
it cover the pinholes and drowns out the light
it pours out uncertainty washing defeat all over me
as i pick at its seams with the smallest part of me
it shows me what true strength and hope means.
