The new year has done nothing to usher in your humour,
The same old twisted sour double standards
You're the bitter from my lemon lime vodka chaser
You go down low to pick at me
Your stab wounds never get numb
It's always fresh and choking
Pushing back up like a burning bull
Charging at the back of my throat
You then Drop without a thought
Any offences you laid to bare
Walking like the innocent
It's amazing you got that
knife through Atmosphere
The animosity is so thick.
The casual became callous
Because mummy's little boy
Has a conscience he can't rip
She did a good job on you,
Better is the one you did on you.
The cost of opening your eyes
Should never be mine to pay
I refuse.
Admit your shit,
Get the fuck over it.
Don't give it if you can't take it,
Read the fucking sign
It says HAPPY new year!
This is too good to delete
Every poem, I think, is the child of a moment: when the moment ends, new moments will appear, but the child of the previous moment has every right to exist. Especially when it has power to move.
