So the time has finally come
To change the rhythm in the rhyme
Far from where I've been
I'll leave it all out on the line
Let the storm roll through
And wash what's left behind

So the time is finally right
To say goodbye to yesterday
And now it's time to write
As tomorrow comes my way

Another failure is inevitable
As are many after that
I cannot measure how I'm able
To cope with what won't last
But I can swear that I'm capable
Of breaking from the past
I only wish that in this fable
You were the story's moral mast

And when tonight fades into memory
As a wake to a new day
With all the change surrounding
The things that make me stay
And with tomorrow's new beginning
I am ready for the change

Because the rhythm of contention
Is who I used to be
But when tonight fades into memory
The contention's gone from me

Because the rhythm in contention
Makes me always want to fight
To cast off the guiding light
And chase the shadows in the night

I'm now just The Rhythm
The beat inside the rhyme
There is no contention
Because I've nothing left to fight

So look to me in the future
As I fly to dawning skies
Where I go, I'm unsure
But I know this path is right

And if we meet again upon it
Know that I won't be the same
Because I've moved on from this
I've finally made the change

And when tonight fades into memory
Tomorrow waits in light
The darkness fades into the seas
Carrried away on Norfolk tides

And when tonight fades into sleep
Just know the I will always be
The rhythm in the rhyming
You all expect from me
