Where was I when you took over everything?
Where were we when I was out of reasoning?

I tried my best to make you matter
Gave all I had to lift your life
You did your best to make the bad worse
Looks like you won our little fight

Nothing was ever enough
Yet it was all too much
The embers burned to dust
And I burned at your touch
You were reeling and feeling like it's all too tough
While I was scheming and dreaming of a life of love

Where will we be when the ashes fall
What happens when the hour comes to call
As the clock ticks each moment away
What will we be
When it fades?

I found you lost in the woods, standing in a storm
I thought it can't be good to live with all that hurt
Did everything I could to show you what you're worth
You said "it's just a show, actions speak more than words"
So I tried
To lift you above the clouds
And show you light still shines
And I vied
To shadow all your doubts
And give you love in life

I couldn't give you what you needed
When you needed to be treated
To something you could believe in
I tried so hard to be it
But I failed to show you meanin'
