Beautiful, But
Clark Steven Lupton
2003
You really are quite gifted
Your life is really blessed
Not only are you pretty
You have a bouncy chest
But no matter how pretty you are
There's one thing that stays the same
You never understand the simple things
Because you don't have half a brain
Whenever I ask you a question
You always respond with, "Huh?"
I don't know if that's worse
Than when you answer, "Duh"
I asked you where you lived
You said, " Duh, I live inside my house"
I would feel like Einstein
If you became my spouse
So I'd take you to a disco
Where I can watch you dance
I wouldn't have to hear your thoughts
Since you would be in a trance
I like to look at you
Whenever we go walking
But I wish I could strangle you
Whenever you start talking
We walked down the beach
You said you'd like to marry
But the thought of having kids with you
Is really downright scary!
If we had a kid,
And it couldn't count to five
I certainly would be
The unhappiest man alive
Your stupidity comes from small brains
Your brains are the size of pins
The only way you'd have more brains
Is if you were having twins
But you are loving and caring
And you have a heart
These things make up for
You not being smart
You may never be on Jeopardy
You may never read a book
But the reason youre still my girlfriend
Is because I like the way you look
Very direct to the point. The poem is funny but it also packs a mean punch. I especially like the 6th stanza because it's the one that I find the funniest. Hehe.
Hi Clark! I loved this for some reason. It really made me smile. I thought the part about only having more brains if you were having twins was unique.
Yes, I still write poems today. Not as often.. I've covered every topic and I feel my poems are starting to all sound the same. I posted some up just now that are a few months old. And yes, I've always written/rhymed my own poems, which has been since grade 4. =)
