JEWEL IN THE OCEAN
Maldives is our nation,
Like a jewel in the ocean;
We revere with high esteem,
The forefathers of our nation,
Who gave us this blessed land.
Fearless we are, for we have no enemies!
We relish our colourful corol reefs,
And adore our friendly neighbors,
For we love a peaceful ‘Co-existence’.
We are the versatile ones,
The future pillars of our great nation;
We are second to none
As we are the children of the Almighty.
Our atolls are twenty six, where dolphins are plenty,
Our palms grow too straight to show that we are upright!
Haa Alif to Addu is our Holy Land,
It’s so sacred, for it's under one flag.
We are light-hearted, but so fleet-footed;
We carry no burden for our life is too free.
We salute our flag and respect our parents;
We revere our community and wish for its prosperity!
You are too precious; too precious to be lost!
We never part you, for our life is you!
You are star-studded, a jewel in the Indian Ocean,
A glittering Jewel on Earth!
Indian Ocean
Dear Ben Ten Nice write ............... You're lucky to have visited the Maldives. I could only travel as far as The Andamans in the IO way back in 2004 just before the Tsunami.

So nice of you for your comments. I wasn't lucky enough to visit The Andaman and Car Nicobar Islands but you were. I heard that the islands over there in the Andaman have different terrains like hills and plains but Maldives are just flat strips. So beautiful with colorful coral reefs; and good for diving and fishing. I had all sorts of experience with my friends and had the chance of staying in uninhabited lsands too. Great feel! I got inspired while being left alone to write poems. Thanks.
