CHASING BUTTERFLIES

CHASING BUTTERFLIES

“Where do they come from?” I just wondered.

 “Don’t know” My buddy said, but ventured to locate!

Oh then! To know; we got to follow;

And chase them till, we reach their homes!

Colors of red, gold, green and amber,

As we glanced, we found them in plenty,

On leaves of plants and blades of grass; and

We followed them up to reach their shelter!

There, over there, they went flying,

With their tiny wings’ effortless flapping;

Could we leave such an exciting chase? And

Yonder, they took us for miles unknown!

Flying in air and resting on leaves,

As and when, they felt like doing;

Could we leave them, and go back home?

Oh! No. We just can’t, but leave.

Miles, we went, chasing flying colors; and suddenly;

The colors just merged into dark jet black,

When the sun went down; darkness spread!

And we ran back minding our destiny.

It was quite dark as we reached home;

My dad just asked where I had gone.

“Was after butterflies!” Innocently I said.

And we went for miles, that took too long.

Oh, Dear!  Chase them as, and when you like!

For I don’t have any grudges against you;

But, chase them not; too far you know

As they will mislead you, My son!

The butterflies there and over here,

Are just the same as all we know;

Don’t chase them too hard, to scare them off!

But, allow them to come on you, My boy!

Author's Notes/Comments:

Do not go after anyone too much but behave in such a way that the person comes after you. This is a simple poem to let youngsters know that going after a person is something like scaring and chasing that person off.

Ben!! Such beautiful imagery

Ben!! Such beautiful imagery I had while reading this wonderful poem!

The end of the poem, for myself, is somewhat of a heed to 'caution'. It is my own belief that in 'real life' situations, the individual will follow whatever it is the soul needs. The choice is the individual's, and depending upon how strong the connection to their true being (meaning their soul), they will make the choices, of which are endless) necessary to complete it's task and gain the momentum the soul needs for it' connection to all souls. In essence, my belief is that there is no such thing as 'free will' as man understands it,but only 'free choice' as we journey in our human form. Peace and great respect, my friend in poetry <3

...and he asked her, "do you write poetry? Because I feel as if I am the ink that flows from your quill."

"No", she replied, "but I have experienced it. "

Hi Nightlight,

Your comment highlights and makes me distinguish between 'Free will' and 'Free choice'.  Couldn't think of it and understand them till today.  I've got it.  Thanks for your critical comments and other contributions in this field so as to enlighten persons like us.  There are only a few who are inclined to go through the works of others and comment on them.  You are such one. Thanks.
