Raven's greatest Trick

Raven tricked Bear into hibernation early, but this was not his greatest trick.
He knew Bear kept the Sun in the fire place.  Bear used Sun for warmth and cooking.
It is late fall, a week from winter, and a blizzard is ready to cause trouble.
Raven shows up at Bear's den.  Bear invites him in for dinner.
They eat and talk.  Raven kept giving most of his food back to Bear when she wasn't paying attention.
He falls asleep in a chair beside the fire place.
Bear is too tired to make Raven leave the den.  She moves further into the den to fall asleep.
Bear's snores woke up Raven.  He hops out of the chair and stands before the fire place.
He wants the Sun!  He tries to grab the Sun with his feet.
Yelp!!!  All that did was burn off all his beautiful feathers.  Now, he has burnt, and ugly toes!
He pauses, but Bear goes back to snoring.  He scoops up some dirt and ashes with the Sun.  It shrinks down to fit inside his beak.
He makes for the sky!  He flies until the Sun settles into the sky.
Flying over the land, Raven watches all of us panic and hurry to adjust to the sudden bright light.
This is Raven's greatest trick.

After the sun set, Raven was not pleased with the emptiness of the black night sky.
He heard rumors of the Clams' magical pearl.  Rumors that the pearl glowed bright in dark times.
Now, not only is Raven a trickster; he is a shape changer as well.
No matter the shape, Clams would not give into Raven's demands.
He even tried man shape, but sprays of salt water into the eyes stopped that attempt.
In a foul mood, he sits on the beach.
Wolf was in search of a late dinner, heard a fuss on the beach.
Raven starts pecking at Wolf's toes.
"GO AWAY!"
"Figured it was YOU making the fuss!"
Wolf hears the clams singing.
"They deny you, bird."
"Stay out of this, DOG."
Raven pecks at Wolf's toes again.  Wolf snaps his teeth at Raven.
In a flutter of feathers, Raven changes to a wolf and battles Wolf.
In a pause in their fight, the Clams try to give Wolf their pearl but Raven swooped in with his ugly toes.
In a quick movement, Wolf swallows the pearl.  He retreats to the forest.
In wonderful magic, he releases the Moon into the night sky and will claim Her each dawn.
"Yes, Raven, you may have the Sun." Whispers Wolf, "but, I have the moon."

After the battle Raven bathes in the ocean to sooth the battle aches away.
He flies up to the Heavens and dances in glee despite the loss.
All the water thrown from his feathers become the stars.

This is how Raven created the sky we live under.
Raven's greatest trick is inspired by tales my family has told me, few other inspiration and my vivid imagination.
