I totally forgot I had written this one. Thanks for reviving it, for me (and, as much, for your thoughts). Reading it now, I'd not realized I'd penned such strong words on our desire to fiddle along the ledge of destruction rather than just make the full jump, back then. I can hear my age at the time, in it, reading anew, for sure heh.
Futility certainly does seem to be our central theme as civilizations. Maybe not so much as individuals, on a case by case basis, but as a unit, I've little doubt. No doubt, actually ; )
