Our lives are often spent

waiting painfully alone

We may smile as content

while inside we weep and groan

Continually embracing

faded hopes we've yet to bare

we find the final facing

introduces life's despair

A portrait all but finished

till love revealed took place

bought and undiminished

through blood and selfless grace

Beyond compare was marred

one merciful so pure

His likeness torn and scarred

for us did He endure

No cross could hold Him fast

his glory, light, and fame

nor death, nor grave now past

Christ Jesus, praise His name
