-Waiting for the Dawn

Waiting for the Dawn

This winter brought sadness

of similiar kind.

Just too much heartache--

I'm losing my mind.

Grief has no schedule,

no time-frame, no plan.

We work our way thru it

the best that we can.

You cannot hold love

when it chooses to leave.

In mourning a lover...

the heart truly grieves.

When standing in darkness

your life has no light.

You'll find your way out,

if you continue to fight.

Just patiently wait

for the dawn to appear.

When the darkness is gone,

then so are the tears.

Time cannot be hurried.

Grief will eventually heal.

Then the sorrow and heartbreak,

will both seem surreal.

Kim, this is beautiful and poignant. I hope whoever broke your heart has his/her own Waterloo of the heart. You are a special and sweet person and should be appreciated for the tender heart your fine character contains.

Hello and Thanks for a well written structured poem, it flowed along, or rather glided along like a river of words.
I really did enjoy it.

Just stopped by to find an old favorite or 2, and see if I could find anything new. I hope your dawn has arrived by now, and that your writing takes seed again in the sunrise. Although quite sad, I liked the power of your words.
