She sat atop a medicine hat stallion
He nods his head as if say she’ll be okay
Never a more gallant gent than he
Such a beautiful picture they make
AS they gallop or as they walk
A lassy and her laddy
She so pretty
He so bright
Never a more handsome pair
Never a less separable pair
The the time will come
When the must say goodbye
For he must go to a far off land
And she must stay where she stands
He will turn for one last lok
As if to say I’ll see you again
So with a last toss of his gallant head
He’ll spin and gallop away
As he goes… one thing she knows
She’ll see him again
In a far off land
But for now she just whispers
Good-bye my sweet friend
I will see you again

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this when I was 17 as a tribute to all the people who must say goodbye to their companion animal until they meet again!

A beautiful poem. It brought tears to my eyes.
