Condemned murderers

can earn cash for their loved ones:

if, given enough

rope, they hang themselves while we

eagerly watch in Prime Time.

Ugh

It sure does leave a heavy feeling. And that Prime Time part just makes it feel so Ill. I have met Sister Helen Prejean, who Dead Man Walking was inspired by. It reminded me of her story and all those who have been wrongly accused and convicted who are living their lives out on death row.

Thank you very much.  The heavy feeling was intentional, because the poem is meant to imply a dystopia, where executions can be entertaining---as in ancient Rome.
