It has only been a few hours,

That we have been apart,

I wish it were in my power,

You are the sunshine in my heart.



The day drags on

It is lunch at last,

You aren’t home,

I have to eat fast.



I tarry as long as I can,

Hopes upon hopes to see you

Disappointed is this man,

Hurrying back to work and what I do.



Quitting time at last

I can go back home,

To that love and repast,

But DARN! You are still gone.



Then as I put supper down,

There on the table,

You stroll in from town,

Totally wiped, to eat barely able.



I give you a hug and a little kiss,

Get totally recharged with the uplift,

Then pray to God telling how much I missed,

And thanking Him for bringing her my safe gift.



Hon, just wanted you to know,

How much I love and miss you so.

You are my heart and what makes my life great,

I want to be with you 24/7 not just a couple hours each day.



I loved you the moment I laid eyes on you.

Forever it will be so,

My love will always be true,

To you, my betrothed.
