A Winter's Day

A Winter's Day

I awoke to see the sun

In my robe, outside did run.

The day was so bright

It hurt my eyes,

Reflecting off snow so white,

It was a pleasant surprise.

I started to shiver

my bare feet grew numb,

I was in such a dither

to act so dumb.

I hurried back into the house

and brewed a pot of coffee,

Its warming nectar, the cold it doused.

making me warm right down to my feet.

Looking out at the sun,

Thoughts turned to a ski run.

Rising I started to dress

Parka, boots, and all the rest,

and as I started for the door,

I heard my lover snore.

So out of my clothes

and back to a warm bed,

I think I will stay here,

in my lover's arms instead.

Ok birdies don't bother to sing,

Here with my love, do not hurry spring.

Very vivid imagery! Great job, but that is as close to winter as I want to get unless I can hibernate. ~Jan
