Young Warriors

Folder:
Military/Patriotic

They look like bobbleheaded dolls with their helmets on

Standing tall in fatigues, backpacks, and their weapon.

Just children called to war

To uphold the honor of their country and the corp.

Life and death decisions, they must make

In the blink-of-an-eye, a life to take.

Do it wrong, the whole nation is an aggressor,

To do it right, is a lot of pressure.

Forgive them if they err,

After all they are but children so be fair.

They arrive so young at heart,

But will age tenfold before they depart.

Give their lives for a brother's save,

That is just the soldier's way.

Even if their efforts amount to zeros

Welcome them home, for they are all heros.

Author's Notes/Comments:

We ask so much of our young warriors. They must make instant decisions over life or death where the wrong decision could bring extreme criticism and shame down on their country or cost the lives of many innocent people. I am proud of our young service men and women, whether the ever go to a war zone or not, they serve with honor and distinction. This poem is for you.

The subject is sentimental. However the more I think deep the more I feel this system war a parasite, futile. Imagine civilization having to go for violence without actually having to do so. Very catchy ending into a deadlock? But surely the brave soldiers need a big hug -- Welcome home.

God bless our soldiers from the youngest to the oldest to the dead. They have all given us so much and I don't want to even know what we'd be without them or where. Hugs out to all the soldiers and God bless.
