IRAQ

IRAQ War II

Look into those sullen faces

See the long repression there

You see it in so many places

This quest for freedom rare.

The children hide from evil men

Afraid to be taken away

To be made to live in sin

Never allowed to grow or play.

This evil upon the blessed earth

Has come from darkness to day

Spreading misery and lives of dearth

All along its evil way.

Spreading fear by bringing death

To any that oppose its edict,

Quashing voices for freedom's breath,

Subverting simple minds with its tricks.

Come, O Lord our blessed king

Save us, was our cry, in prayers spoke

Deliver us from Saddam Hussein

and lift this evil tyrant’s yoke.

God has heard your cry

And his heart goes out to you,

He has sent your enemy by

To effect your long awaited rescue.

Now he hears your loud lament

He sent liberators you called invaders,

That was not heaven sent,

Subverting his will, you are traitors.

You have no security so you spoke,

Does your God make mistakes?

You ask to have back your yoke,

You have no clue what freedom takes.

Freedom for some and not for all,

Is replacing one yoke with another.

It really isn’t freedom at all,

If you subjugate your brother.

All men are created equal is so true

Do we not bleed, love, and also dream

There is no difference 'tween me and you,

So we should hold each other in high esteem.

We can disagree about what is right,

We can do this peacefully, together.

We don't need to take arms and fight,

With compromise this bump we will weather.

Don't ask what will my liberator do for me,

Ask, "What can I do to restore my country.

Don't point at them and say, "We were better off where we were at"

Honor them for the freedom you have at last.

To a man they would rather be back home

With their families and every day lives,

But here in your land was the end for some,

Leaving, orphaned children, parents, and wives.

To bring freedom to those repressed,

And to the world a little security,

Maybe some old wounds redressed,

But now your land is free.

To a man, they do not want to stay,

It is up to you to pick up their cause,

They won't leave until they know freedom is safe,

And they are comfortable you want give them pause.

It is your land that is now free,

Cultivate it with love and not greed.

For years your country was torn asunder,

Take time to put it right so you don’t blunder.

We look forward to that day down the road further,

When we can welcome the Iraqi people as brothers.

Peace, achieved by blood sacrifice of those who know you not,

Who cared enough, loved enough to save you from the rot.

It will take time for your wounds to heal

But it will happen given time

Please funnel your passion and your zeal

To bring your nation in line.

Those you call invader has set you free,

Now it is up to you and me

To build our nations as beacons of light

For peace and love and all that is right.

Author's Notes/Comments:

To the people of Iraq. Currently their needs are immediate and it is hard to look at tomorrow if your baby is starving today, but take heart, your nation will rise from the ashes to greatness and your people will prosper. Maybe these trials you are going through now is God's punishment for not taking back your country from this evil dictator many years ago.
