They gave up their tomorrows
For our today
These brave young men, no more
Than babes.
You see them at intersections
Weapons at the ready,
Safeguarding our freedom,
Their faith in America steady.
Ready to lay down their lives
To let freedom ring.
Of them, and their brave deeds
Let us sing.
So young and afraid,
But they answered the call.
And if it takes their lives,
They will stand tall.
Let our enemies know,
We will not go into that long night,
Quietly, or like lambs to a slaughter,
We won't go without a fight.
Evil can not hide nor
Withstand the light.
Cause evil is a coward
And carries on a cowards fight.
We will root it out
And make them pay,
For the evil deeds and
Each life they take.
Those who harbor
These devils of the night,
Will not escape the justice
Of God's might.
It is sad, that our young
Must lead the way
Giving up their tomorrows
For our today.
Dear "Huck", I've just found two of your offerings, both about veterans. I want to say thanks for your understanding heart. I am a 'Nam vet, 1966, 1967, 1968. You cannot imagine how what we did there, then, still affects me, here, now. I wish I knew how to forget, but even though I can't, the feelings you express do a lot to make the memories a little more bearable. I have a few pieces on my Post site. "Forever Young" is the worst. But, the things that happened were as they were, and I only talk about what I know. Again, thanks for your expression of your feelings. Even now, 35 yrs later, true respect is hard to find sometimes. The hardest part is when you find out that you don't even respect yourself any longer. But now, knowing that you, and others like you, sort of understand a little, helps a lot. Sincerely, Rex Patton.
"Poe" I'm not, nor "Rich" am I,
but I'll be famous, b'ye and b'ye !
