My first friend in West Memorial Junior High

And It’s gonna be hard for this final goodbye



Starting in sixth grade I had a goal

‘Twas dormant in the mind, but deep in my soul

Searching for a person to show potential I had

I found you in my life for that I am glad



You helped me comprehend the art in strings

And the lovely sound that it brings

For three years you taught how to perfect those sounds

Giving me dreams and endless bounds



A new passion in my life that I will hold dear

And you the thankful memory I have near

You’re in my thoughts each note I play

And I’m grateful what you’ve taught everyday



Every year I looked forward to my 7th and 8th bell

Knowing my days would not end in a living hell

You were a teacher for me as well as a friend

I never feared the next year with you ‘round the bend



Going into high school I won’t forget what you taught

As well as the many fun memories you brought

You taught me well as you can see from Schlitterbhan

And I will be able to conduct or tune on and on



You are a great leader

And even better teacher

I learned from the best and that is you

And every word I say is true



I looked forward to orchestra everyday

No matter what happened or what anyone had to say

I was always cheered up by your smile and attitude

And I this is one way to show my gratitude



This teacher student relationship has worked both ways

You sometimes learning from my teaching days

This might be my last farewell

But I’ll see you again I can tell



So, see you later Mr. E thanks for all your encouragement

And thanks for all the musical lessons that are permanent  

Enjoy the gift and have a nice time at Katy Junior High

So I found you easy to please
