Who among us doesn’t like a fish taco when it’s 3:00am and you’re stoned with the munchies.  Finding that hole in the wall restaurant for a treat will bring total satisfaction.  And the fish taco is a distinctly American innovation.

The creation of the fish taco is America at its finest.  This is the quintessential spirit of this country.  It’s a clash of cultures that produces something wonderful.  First you have the Mexicans who are already here with the taco.  Then the Koreans infiltrate L.A. and someone throws a fish on a taco shell.  Now we have something new and beautiful.  It’s even better than the clown who dipped a chocolate bar into a jar of peanut butter.  American invention and ingenuity comes from different people bringing different cultures, customs and ideas into the fold and adding to the already existing menu.

Adding something new doesn’t detract from something that is already there.  It just creates another option.  Now we can get a traditional beef taco or a fish taco.  Or actually, now there are pork tacos and chicken tacos and even vegan tacos.  As people intermingle with each other, we end up with new invention and new innovation.  That’s supposed to be what makes America great.
